Can I have your thoughts on Clementine, Charlotte, Anna

My favourite is Clementine, but I don't know about the nicknames

DH likes Charlotte, nn 'Charlie' - I don't like Charlie but quite like Lottie.

We both like Anna - it just seems a little common (as in often used) in comparison with my other DC's slightly unusual names. Actually, so does Charlotte for that matter.

Boys name choice is Theodore/Teddy (I think)

i prefer charlotte shortened to Lottie to Clementine. don't mind charlie but think that Charlotte is lovely as it is.

Not sure about Theodore or teddy think i prefer Theo as the shorter version

Sorry should of said that i love Anna too. a simple, elegent name that suits a baby, little girl or an adult. I don't know any children called Anna so to me it is not a commonly used name.

my DH was not keen on Anna but did agree to Hannah for DD!

Clemintine is nice but she would get called Clem (yuck).

Not so keen on Clementine, probably because I knew a nasty Clem at school.

Keep them coming! I had been really keen on Clementine until recently, but keep saying 'Clemmie' out loud and it just doesn't sound right somehow. And I know it will be shortened. Hmmmmmm.

Just not sure that Anna and Charlotte aren't to 'usual' though. Other DC's names are Elijah and Lucia.

Also, have heard peolple say you can't put Anna with a vowel surname...but as DD's name ends with an 'a' as well, I don't know if I care about that piece of advice.

DD is called Clementine, after Winston Churchill's wife, so I'm afriad I can imagine my DD being introduced to the queen, at least as PM's wife. She doesn't get shorted to Clem or Clemmie (urgh!) but is sometimes called Cat. I have to say I love it and lots of people comment on how unusual it is. It also sounds much more grown-up than the profusion of Molly's, Kitty's and Milly's in her class.

Oranges - I agree, its a grown up sounding name I think - but also very pretty for a little girl. Its the nicknames that get me though. In the country I live in, it is absolutely guiaranteed it will be shortened. I don't mind the sound of Clemmie in itself, but it always sounds like 'clammy' when I say it.

I get clammy too (as it were). I don't know any Annas under 10 though, and it's a name that will easily go round the whole of Europe. Take your point about it being considerably less unusual than your other DCs. How about Marianne/Marianna or Deanna?

Clementine - don't like. Sounds a bit pretentious.

Charlotte and Anna are both lovely (we've chosen Anna for our sproglet due next week).

I should point out though, that Charlotte is very, very, very common. Anna not so much actually, but Charlottes are everywhere. It has dipped marginally in popularity but when I left school a couple of years back we were swimming in them, along with Rebeccas and Louises (my name). I went to a girls' school briefly, 60 girls to a year. At one point there were 6 Charlottes. 10% of the year was called Charlotte!

I like Anna most.

Charlotte is fine but pretty popular.

Clementine is nice but I hate Clemmie as a nn, though from Oranges experience perhaps you can get away without this being used.

Charlotte is a lovely name. My best mate's little girl is called Charlotte. It's classic and timeless and a super choice.
I'm not keen on Anna. It's a bit frumpy.

Oh, I just checked the topp 100 names list and found Charlotte at number 6 last year Back to the drawing board I think. Sugestions please...

I like Clementine, but agree, no nice nicknames.

I like Anna.

It's not unusual, but it's not popular at the moment either. And it is a lovely name. It's pretty, but it grows up elegantly.

We have charlotte chosen for dd3 also really love Lottie so will probably be shorten to that as a baby/tot

we also had annabel on the shortlist but with already having a Hannah thought hannah and anna would eb too much.

Anna is a good name.

Charlotte is nice. You don't have to shorten it.

Well I think Clementine is gorgeous a very pretty name that works for children and adults. How can you say she couldnt be introduced to a prime minister - a Clementine was married to arguably the greatest prime minister ever (winston Churchill)?!

Charlotte is too common, though like Lottie as a nick name. Anna is ok but for me falls into too traditional = too boring boring boring.

Oh and love your boys choice too. Think we have similar tastes!
