I immediately thought of Chorlton and the Wheelies too for fenella!!

I love Eilidh but Xh wouldn't let me call dd that so I'm gonna suggets it for you!! My dd is Kirsty so glad no-one yukked at that!

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:00

Imogen - ok i suppose

Ursula - no. I think large, bricks, teutonic

Fenella - no no. Has anyone ever really been called this?

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:00

Ella is quite nice

Podrick · 13/02/2009 19:02

Imogens are two a penny so I prefer the other two names

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:03

I'd rather ten a penny and pleasant than unusual and ugly

ProfessorCalculus · 13/02/2009 19:07

There are no Imogens at DSs' school afaik. I don't know any in our town either.

shootfromthehip · 13/02/2009 19:13

Like Imogen- the other two are a wee bit 'old lady'. What about Isla- 'twould go with the boys?

Or Astrid- just coz it's fab!

Ronaldinhio · 13/02/2009 19:14

I love those names and I'm mostly cruel and scathing

pointydog · 13/02/2009 19:18

doesn't mean you have good taste, ronald

ADealingMummy · 13/02/2009 19:23

I love Imogen
Rally not keen on Fenella
Ursula could grow me.

Congratulations

MmeLindt · 13/02/2009 19:32

I like Imogen, don't like Ursula (old fashioned in Germany where DH is from) am undecided about Fenella.

We have a Catriona, not pronounced the Scottish way though. It would go lovely with your boy's names.

What about Caitlin? Irish rather than Scottish, but very pretty.

Fiona

Isobel

I love Imogen, it is what DD is called. Well that and Immy, Mimi or Mim depending on who is shortening it.

wasaconventgirl · 13/02/2009 20:14

I know a Fenella (am in England) and when she started school, the other childrfen though she was called vanilla! Prehaps it is more common in Scotland?

AnathemaDevice · 13/02/2009 20:21

Another vote for Imogen here, I wanted to use it, but as our surname begins with an I it really wouldn't work. (Incidentally we've decided on Kathleen/Kitty if this bump is a girl)

daisy5 · 13/02/2009 20:55

Fenella is a beautiful name with a lovely ring to it. I don't get the fennel association at all.

clubfoot · 13/02/2009 20:57

Imogen is lovely. It is a strong girls name - sounds like she could stand up to 2 older brothers....!

Clary · 13/02/2009 22:11

I like Ursula and Imogen - I don't know any Ursulas apart from one in her 20s.

Know a few Imogens but not masses. Don't think any of yr names sound too grand.

Cameron and Finlay eh - hmm wd avoid Finlay and Fenella but the other 2 sound fine with those.

There is a Fenella Fudge reads the news on Radio 2 and it always makes me smile - but maybe the Fudge rather than Fenella.

dizzydixies · 13/02/2009 23:00

what about Ishbel or Eilidh or Murianne?

I love Imogen but think a Scottish name would be lovely with your boy's names

congrats on your little girl btw I have 3 all with very grand names but shortened versions for every day use!!

fimbo know what you're saying, we're from across the water from Dundee and its one of the reasons Imogen wasn't used here

naughtalessnickerless · 13/02/2009 23:10

Sorry but I think Fenella (which is a lovely name) is a no go with Finley .. as has been said before; Fin and Fen!
I like Ursula and Imogen.
When I was a girl I used to read the What Katy Did! books, there was an Imogen in the books; I always thought it was pronounced Im-O-Gun. (which was quite embarrasing when dd came home with a friend called Imogen, I would have to bite my tongue, not to pronouce her name wrongly)
So if it was me, I would call her Ursula.

nailpolish · 14/02/2009 11:15

i would be tempted to go for katy morag

i read these to the dds every night, they are the best books EVER and katy morag is adorable

nailpolish · 14/02/2009 11:16

i have a friend called Marion who lives in Barra

thats a fine scottish name

would be nice with your boys names

ps i love Fenella Fudge on radio 2

TooFoggy · 14/02/2009 15:29

Imogen is great!

deste · 21/02/2009 20:13

Imogen is lovely. There is a 14 year old girl on our road called Morag and it sounded old fashioned 14 years ago and it still sounds old fashioned now.

Lulubee · 23/02/2009 18:40

Bridget! I vote for Bridget!

(But Imogen is sweet too I suppose...)
