i prefer Hester to Esther

Imogen is nice though
go for that

wideratthehips · 13/02/2009 14:15

oooh
frazzledoldbag just to let you know, if dc3 had been a boy he would have been Hugh. quite a strong name for a baby, but he would have need one with two big brothers

thanks everyone....all positives for imogen so thats really good,

also haven't come across any other imogens yet in four years of being surrounded by little children so even better! (only because my two dsons names are quite popular!)

I think Fenella is too close to Finlay (Fin and Fen). Imogen is pretty but very welsh compared to scottish boys names (not necessarily a major problem and thinking about it, I do know Cameron and Imogen siblings). Not a big fan or Ursula personally

I like Erica (and Bridget). How about Iona ?

Blu · 13/02/2009 14:21

Nancy would go nicely with those boys names...and are what I would call a girl if I had one now!

Madmentalbint · 13/02/2009 14:23

I love the name Imogen

Congrats on your daughter

wideratthehips · 13/02/2009 14:24

yes, there is the fin / fen arguement...but i love that name (dh is not very keen)

my own name begins with an n so i'd stay away from nancy too.

Hmmm. I think Fenella is a very hard name to carry off. You're going to have to call her across the playground in a liud voice at some point. I couldn't do it with a straight face, sorry.

Ursule...meh.

Imogen is nice.

MrsMattie · 13/02/2009 14:25

loud voice

wideratthehips · 13/02/2009 14:26

true....a name is no use if you get the giggles whilst chastising said child!

i have 2 girls - one with a scottish name one with a welsh name

to me it doesnt matter the origin of the name as long as you like it and it suits the bairn!

belleymum · 13/02/2009 14:30

Elspeth is beautiful...for obvious reasons!
I had a cat called Esther.

Fimbo · 13/02/2009 14:35

Ooh NP I didn't realise your dd1's name was Welsh. Very uncommon name nowadays.

KashaSarrasin · 13/02/2009 14:55

Love Ursula, DS2 would have been one if he'd been a girl.

Like Imogen.

Not so keen on Fenella but it could grow on me.

Pinktastic · 13/02/2009 14:55

DD (7) is Imogen. I fell in love with the name many years ago when I saw a tv drama called Imogen's Face, starring Samantha Janus.

I was determined that if I ever had a DD then that would be her name and I still love it now (even though I call her Mo all the time!!)

Jenbot · 13/02/2009 15:33

I agree Fenella is too similar to Finlay. Plus, I like the other 2 names more anyway.

Northernlurker · 13/02/2009 15:38

Imogen is quite often used - I know several - and I think Fenella is dreadful but Ursula is lovely.

claricebean · 13/02/2009 15:40

Imogen is lovely. I would've liked it for DD3 but we are in Spain so it would've come out as 'Eemohen'. Sigh. Love your boys' names too.

snuffyp · 13/02/2009 15:45

Fenella was the welsh witch in chorlton and the wheelies

PippiCalzelunghe · 13/02/2009 15:46

like Imogen a lot.
oh and btw I was terrified of having a girl (ended up with two) and now I am thankful everyday. you said it right, you've got a sidekick, a bestfriend and a mate - that's until they are 15 of course!!
congrats!!

campion · 13/02/2009 18:38

Imogen is lovely. I teach an Ursula at the moment and it seems a bit of an unlovely name for a nice girl. Fenella. Seriously? She'd get called Ella/ Ellie/ Nelly pretty soon though.

SobranieCocktail · 13/02/2009 18:41

Oooh I really love all your choices. Would probably go for Ursula as it's a strong, feisty sort of name and is pleasingly rare. Fenella is easier to find diminutives for though.

ProfessorCalculus · 13/02/2009 18:44

Love Imogen.
Hate Fenella.
Ursula says old lady to me.
