Surely the only middle name that goes with Tarquin is Tarquin.

Tarquin Tarquin Poncenby-Campbell-Smythe

DON'T DO IT, DON'T DO IT!!!

LostVagueness · 02/02/2009 21:39

I'd go with 'bully me' for a middle name. Even if you don't I'm pretty sure the end result will be the same unless you send him to private school.

shoobidoo · 02/02/2009 21:44

Why would a Tarquin get bullied at school? Why would other children find the name Tarquin more teaseworthy than Thomas or Terry? I can understand it if someone were called Tootoohead or something silly....

It seems that we adults in this country have issues with class etc, but should we really pass these on to our children and encourage them to tease others on the basis of their name???

Kayteee · 02/02/2009 22:05

Fartquin Tartquart.

shoobidoo · 02/02/2009 22:12

Now that WOULD be teaseworthy

GrimmaTheNome · 02/02/2009 22:18

Isn't Farquar terribly chav nowadays? I'm sure I heard a chav mother bawling in Asda 'Come here you little Farquar'

Kayteee · 02/02/2009 22:24

No, that was more likey to be "come here you little Fart".

GrimmaTheNome · 02/02/2009 22:31

No... come to think, it was a most peculiar transgender hyphenation 'Martha-Farquar'.

LostVagueness · 03/02/2009 09:46

Shoobido- Reality Check time!
'Why would a Tarquin get bullied at school?'
LOL

shoobidoo · 03/02/2009 09:55

LostVagueness,

what I meant was that I think children will accept a name as a name - so, for them Tarquin is no more teaseworthy than Terry, Thomas, Tobias or Tristan. It's just a name!

If a child was named Poophoohead or something silly, I can understand why he or she might be teased!

It seems that we adults make assumptions about names, not the children.

barbiehouse · 03/02/2009 10:00

george, i think that would sound lovely.

MrsBadger · 03/02/2009 10:02

rofl at Martha Farquhar

ruty · 03/02/2009 10:07

I knew a Tarquin. God he was unbearable.

LostVagueness · 05/02/2009 10:03

Not sure I agree. But even so, when the child grows up and turns into an adult he will have to deal with adults all over the place who find his name funny.

I think the biggest problem with Tarquin is that it cant be shortened and therefore leaves little T with no other choices should he dislike his name.

I bet you have laughed at childrens names!
