We are trying for number 2, we already have a daughter Poppy. We are looking for a boys name that is on the same theme.

We were trying to think of any flower, plant or herb but are stuck. Any ideas would be gratefully appreciated.

Thanks

Please please please keep an eye on the other local boys names - he has to live with it for ever (or until he can change it) and being a Jasmin or a Leaf or Mint when all the other boys are called macho or snooty traditional names will make his life very difficult. My BIL had to live with the very old fashioned boys name "Hilary" and it was tough among the Steves and Daves around him.

My advice would be to give him "ordinary" middle name so he can use that instead if he wants at a later date.

Personally I love a lot of these names though and it is fun choosing baby names!

Good luck

GÜL: Turkish name meaning "rose."
GÜLBAHAR: Turkish form of Persian Gulbahar, meaning "spring rose."
JASMIN: Bosnian form of Arabic Yasmin, meaning "jasmine flower," a plant in the olive family. Compare with feminine Jasmin.
NERGIS: Turkish name meaning "daffodil."

These are all girls' names!

As a rule of thumb, it is a very bad idea to trust the internet on foreign names. It's best to stick to the names you are familiar with, imho.

For Christ's sake, can children just have a 'normal' name that they wont be mortified by in later life?

Do you have to theme your names?

I usually scroll speedily through the name threads, the ridiculous suggestions people make.

Do you need help naming your child? 'Where did I get my name from mum?, an internet forum love!'

Knew of a family where all the girls in family were iris, lily, daisy etc. The only boy ( the youngest) was named Bud! v sweet!

Okaaay. In the attempt to save this purely hypothetical sprog from a lifetime condemned to the name Hyacinth, here are some more thoughts.

Alexanders is a plant. Call him Alex and bung in a middle initial, and Bob's your uncle.

So is Timothy. It's a grass.

But I'm not sure the OP is nearly as interested in this thread as the rest of us.
