So, My not-yet-conceived baby girl was to be called some variation of Rose or Grace, but they seem to be waaaay more popular than I thought, and I dont want her to be the third Grace in her class, so what other similar style names are out there?

For Grace, how about Faith or Hope? Or Grace in another language? My Greek is rusty but I think Charis is along the right lines.

For Rose, you could have a longer form: Rosanne/a or Roxanne?

Hope that helps!

See, I don't think Rose is that popular. It's a very popular middle name, but not first name, I don't think. I don't know any Rose's.

not yet conceived?

Lots of girls with Rose as a middle name here. Can't think of any with it as a first name.

Have a friend called Gracestella (Nigerian, don't know if that is a common name there?), although I think Grace on its own is much nicer.

electra · 14/01/2009 13:54

My friend just had a baby and called her Rosalie which I think is nice (she and her husband live in France)

LiffeyKidman · 14/01/2009 14:02

There is a little girl called Joy at my son's playschool. Lovely I think.

I like Faith and Ruth too

CrackopentheBaileys · 14/01/2009 14:05

I have a friend named Annarose, it's never shortened. Rose isn't common here, but Grace is.

I know a few Graces / Gracies ( children ) but only an adult Rose(mary)and an adult Ros(i)e(mary

lots of middle names as Rose, but agree that it isnt common as a first name

I am not all that keen on either name TBH

Hope is lovely though IMO

Joy instead of Grace?

lastboxoftampons · 14/01/2009 17:11

Is it the connotations of the names that you like or the simplicity, sound, etc?

I've always liked Eden becuase of the connotation.

If not Rose, how about Rosalie? or Rosalinda?

Luxmum · 15/01/2009 10:28

Ohhhhh!! Hope! Joy! What beautiful names, that's great, they are going to the top of my list. And no, am not going to have another boy, I already have two. This time it's going to be a girl. [determined face]

I really do love Joy, but I'll be flamed for saying this, Hope reminds me of very premature babies. They are always called Hope.

Although of course saying that my son was born prematurely and he's not called HOpe.
