I come from a rather "chavvy" town. THE chav town. we have a LOT of little Destinee's and Alleeshah's and Daizy-Mai's
all that kind of thing. that's why it feels chavvy to me.

it's almost a kind of "hmm, we would like a unique name, but we can't be bothered to find one so we'll take this really ordinary name and just spell it wrong"

If we do have a dd then we will be calling her Ellynor, and I would imagine that people in rl will be a lot more polite than those on this board.

I am v polite to parents faces when i hear a chavvy/weird name but tend to have a giggle later.

If everyone only named their chldren with those names that the ladies on this forum approved of then the classrooms of the schools in the uk would be very confusing with multiples of names.

Whatever our lo is named s/he will be increbdibly loved and looked after which is far more important than the fact that her/his parents are being talked about

Hunker it would be nor as it is pronounced normally - elly nor ie neither elly nor ally

The Elly bit I get, but I seem to have to say "Elly-gnaw" (obv as gnaw is usually pronounced, not like Gnasher in the Beano!) when I pronounce it.

There are so many cool girl names that don't have to be the least bit controversial or awkward to spell or say. Harder with boys to get something unique, but for girls, you don't need to choose anything even slightly 'strange' in order to be unique.
