...it seems too weird!

He's called Struan which in itself is quite nice but my parents have had a dog for about 12 years and he is called Struan! I can't get my head around a human being called this!

What do you think of that name?

I do think it is fascinating the way pets are almosst always called by human names these days. When I was a child (and Queen Vic was still on the throne) dogs were called things like Fido and Rover and cats were called Puss. Or Queenie.
Now you only have to call Ben or Sam in the local park and every boy and dog within earshot comes running.

When I was a few weeks old my parents took me to see my local vicar to discuss my christening. The vicar asked my parents what name they had chosen for me. On hearing their reply he said, " Oh, my dog's called that!" My parents were gutted apparently!

Struan is a gorgeous name, one of the nicest I've ever heard.

If people give human names to dogs then this kind of situation is going to arise

My first word was Oisin (an Irish name, in case you haven't heard of it) because it was the name of the dog my Mum's family had. A few years later my Mum's sister called her son Oisin. I'm not sure whether or not canine Oisin had died at that point
