Okay there are worse.. but any nice, pretty, delicate names that I pick, are slightly ruined by the surname 'Savage'..

No idea what babs is yet, so open to boy or girl name suggestions! Good luck

I once knew a Dai Savage....

justbeme · 07/12/2008 21:10

My married name was worse!
Louis Savage?
Eva Savage?

Dont forget to think what initials spell out if you go for a middle name!

justbeme · 07/12/2008 21:11

My married surname was worse!!
Louis Savage or Eva Savage?

justbeme · 07/12/2008 21:11

Oh sorry - dont know what happened there!!!

devoutsceptic · 07/12/2008 21:13

Nothing wrong with Savage. I thought it was going to be Bottomley! Every name I can think of goes well with Savage. I cannot think of one that doesn't go.

SheWillBeLoved · 07/12/2008 21:18

Devout - do me a list pleeeease I think i'm just being too fussy. I just want the 'perfect' name that makes everyone think "aww wow, that's just lovely", but I know there will aways be some who aren't keen on something you love. I suppose having a more delicate name will somehow soften the surname, but then I worry that the surname will swamp such a name. Argh

How about after someone famous
here

malovitt · 07/12/2008 21:21

Eau Savage

grumpalina · 07/12/2008 21:24

I know a Sarah Savage and I always thought that is quite a distinguished name. I think generally the SS aliteration goes well.

I think Savage is a great surname. Not bland and boring like mine.

nooka · 07/12/2008 21:32

I think you might want to consider a distinctive name in it's own right. If your first name is unusual people tend to use the surname much less. Obviously they have to go together, but if you up the syllables of the first name I think the surname will recede (especially as it's quite soft in pronunciation). So Rebecca, Francesca, Cordelia, Henrietta type names might work well.

choosyfloosy · 07/12/2008 21:33

Amelia
Theresa (Tess Savage is cool IMO)
Rowan
Imelda

Theo
Joel

duchesse · 07/12/2008 21:36

Tiger? Could be a real statement

Lily? Oh hang on, that's already been done, hasn't it?

Seraphina? A bit of alliteration to draw the eye away from the surname...

Double barrelling??

Getting desperate now...

devoutsceptic · 07/12/2008 21:39

Elizabeth Savage
Kate Savage
Chloe Savage
Frances Savage
Louisa Savage
Flora Savage
Caroline Savage
Angelica Savage
Emma Savage
Susannah Savage
Vivienne Savage
Ella Savage
Maya Savage
Lucy Savage.... I'm just not seeing a problem here at all!

wheresthehamster · 07/12/2008 21:41

Evie, Grace and Elliot are fine I think

AussieLou · 07/12/2008 22:35

I went to school with a Pippa Savage. Has a nice ring to it.

mickeymistletoe · 14/12/2008 14:38

i cant see a problem with evie or gracie savage tbh. both lovely names and if they are your favourites you might regret not picking one of them later on.

agree elliot savage is a bit of a mouthful.

We3kingsoforientRaahh · 14/12/2008 14:46

i have an elliot- it's great, but i am biased, of course.

breakfastinbed · 14/12/2008 14:52

Cool surname! It has power and energy. Feels much better if you think 'fierce lioness' rather than 'out-of-control yob'. -All about context .

Three syllables with the stress on the first would go best. For example Jennifer Savage and Cecily Savage scan nicely.

VerifiedLU4097 · 15/12/2008 10:17

Could you hyphenate your surname with your DP's so theres a buffer between the christian name and savage? If not I think these sound nice:

Mark Savage
Calvin Savage
David Savage
Jason Savage

Kate Savage
Elizabeth Savage (quite like that one)
Susannah Savage
Hannah Savage
Lorna Savage

georgiemum · 15/12/2008 10:19

I think that's a great surname. Or do you pronounce it Sa-va-ghe?

ranting · 15/12/2008 10:19

What's wrong with Savage? Try growing up with a surname that rhymes with pissed off, then it doesn't really matter what your first name is.

What about Maria?

CuppaTeaJanice · 16/12/2008 12:34

Adam Savage?

Mythbusters?

cuppachar · 16/12/2008 12:45

As someone else has already said, Fred Savage is the actor from the Wonder Years. He now has two children called Oliver (works well with Savage IMO) and.... wait for it.... Lily!

see here

daisy5 · 17/12/2008 15:19

But it's a wonderfully strong surname - and exciting. I've always liked it.

PuppyMonkeyNuts · 17/12/2008 15:23

You know it's a shame because Lily Savage is a very nice name!

What about Sebastian Savage...

...he sounds like a famous author.
