No, no and no - sorry!

But I do love Alice, Elsie and Esme although I agree they are getting very popular.

blinks · 06/12/2008 00:53

gawd, bit twatty.

msdee · 06/12/2008 00:56

i'm new (can you tell?!) thanks for the tip re nicknames, not feeling very creative at mo. Good job i'm not pregnant yet as obviously need to work harder , I always thought Cadence was a musical rhythm but have googled and seen the ending references, still like it though as it's rare here. Hopefully not too bizarre to think up names for as yet unconceived daughters!

HI msdee and welcome to mnet. Agree with Caulifrau, your name is too similar to a regular so do change it (ask on here if you don't know how to do that). Your baby names wouldn't be my choice, but if you really love the names, go for them, don't tell RL people, because once the baby is there, it will become their name. Before they are born, it's an abstact thing and people feel they can voice an opinion which they are far less likely to do after the birth

goodasgold · 06/12/2008 01:08

I agree with Lilo - don't tell anybody your names, just present them with ...

On here though, what are your middle names?

phew just worked out what to do, feels like first day at new school (and that was a LONG time ago!)

Dragonbutter · 06/12/2008 01:23

hi newbie,
nah, i'm not keen on your names either but maybe augusta. makes me think of golf, not sure why.
i spend a lot of time day dreaming up my future imaginary childrens names too. I have two boys already and don't plan on having any more, but i like to imagine what i might call them. so whether it's bizarre or not, you are not alone there.

Strangely the names i thought of before we had children were not the names we went for in reality. For one, you have to take into consideration your partners opinions and they sometimes take a dislike to a perfectly good name for no good reason.

as i've been rude about your names, feel free to criticise my imaginary childrens names too. i like fern and nelson.
go on, i can take it.

salvadory · 06/12/2008 01:25

well if Augusta I like Rose (although reading on other threads I fear I'm not supposed to!) Cadence doesn't lend itself to a middle name and for Romilly I like Rae or Mae or even Maeve.

salvadory · 06/12/2008 01:30

I LOVE Fern, such a pretty name (I think of Cotton not Britten although I don't mind her either!) Wouldn't pick Nelson myself but not for any specific reason, I think of Half-Nalson and not Mandela but as oyu can tell boys names are not much of an interest, which of course guarantees me 6 boys if I'm lucky enough to have kids! I do like Gus for a boy now I think on, hmmn

salvadory · 06/12/2008 01:31

oops meant to say Nelson not Nalson (sounds Swedish doncha think?)

Dragonbutter · 06/12/2008 01:35

Gus is good. and could be short for augustus.

But Augustus Ray (surname) sounds like a country singer.

salvadory · 06/12/2008 01:40

Now all I have to do is get pregnant!!!
ps your mosaics are lovely
pps Gussie for a girl??

Dragonbutter · 06/12/2008 01:43

yes, well you won't get pregnant hanging around on mumsnet til all hours of the night.

goodnight and happy daydreaming

thumbElf · 06/12/2008 02:16

well now Salvadory - welcome btw - Gussie is exACTly the reason you shouldn't saddle a DD with the name Augusta.

Cadence - can't be doing with it, although for some bizarre reason I think that Cadenza would work as an Italian version

Romilly is quite pretty, though.

BabyTalk13 · 06/12/2008 14:17

I know someone with a Kaydence and she is a gorgeous, cute little girl

itcameuponamidnightexpress · 06/12/2008 14:20

I like Romilly, but I think Cadence is a silly name. Quite like Augusta, but Gussy a bit grim.

What about having a boy? They are great you know.

ToThrottleaRedRobin · 06/12/2008 16:02

Kaydence is the chavvy spelling though isnt it?

Dont like any of those names sorry.

What boy's names have you thought of

sweetkitty · 06/12/2008 16:04

I love Romilly, I know Romilly lovely girl, doesn't go with our surname though

MrsMattie · 06/12/2008 16:23

Cadence is dreadful. I just think 'ending' (I also think 'really American and made up sounding'). Romilly and Augusta are ionce-tastic in the extreme.

Alice is lovely.

Elise and Esme - nah. All those granny names are way too popular.

BabyTalk13 · 06/12/2008 23:54

I dont know, Id never heard of it until my sisters friend named their girl it.
Im not quite sure on any of the above names, what boys names do you like??
Tbh I had a list of names id liked for ages but once I got pregs I completly changed my mind and didnt want any of them!!

Well I'm sorry but I like Cadence, but then I'm biased as I know a beautiful little girl called that and it suits her (and nope she definitely is not an ending but rather a beginning). How about Emilia?
