All the Ruperts I have ever met wear checked trousers.

terrible!! sorry....

I LOVE Rupert.
I was at college with a boy called Rupert.
Also for some reason DS1 decided a few months ago he would no longer answer to his name and wanted everyone to call him Rupert. I got quite attached to it, it suited him down to the ground. He is back to his real name now though.

Awful

mickeylou · 02/12/2008 16:50

bit too wet imo. reminds me of a particularly snooty army officer.

pickupthismess · 02/12/2008 16:56

Horrid. Round here all Ruperts are estate agents. Basically they all got a great education but are totally thick so can't do anything else!

What about Edmund? Rufus? Arthur?

BoccaDellaNativita · 02/12/2008 17:33

I like it, even though 'Rupert' is Army slang for a posh but dim officer and the only Rupert I've ever met was an ex-Army estate agent!

MadameCastafiore · 02/12/2008 17:36

Fucking annoying Bear!

lunamoon2 · 02/12/2008 21:57

Very pale skinned
wears checked trousers and a scarf
has friends called Ping Pong
hangs around with other "strange types" .....

higgle · 04/12/2008 16:48

I'm afraid it is a poncy Tim-nice-but-dim sort of name that will get your child sneered at for life - Dont do it!!!!

tinselroundtherock · 04/12/2008 20:35

Just never sounds all that masculine, although I know two and both are 'men's men'!

nkf · 04/12/2008 20:38

Rupert is fine for a rugby player if he's a public school sort. League or the other one. Can never remember which form of rugby is posh. Personally, I think it is, and always will be, the name of a bear.
