DH and I are having a nightmare - we are rubbish at deciding on a name as we are both very fussy. Please make suggestions for boys names - I don't want anything common (i.e he will be one of 3 in his class)

I will apologise in advance for dismissing most of them, we've already had a gazillion suggestions but I am hoping one of you can hit the jackpot! There is a photo of him in my profile if that helps.

Thanks

I prefere Will. Willy is a childs name for a penis after all.

ScummyMummy · 12/11/2008 18:39

He's gorgeous. I looked at him before reading the other posts and thought he looked like a Harry too. Isn't that odd? Do you like the name Harry at all?!

Or Billy? William for long?

mummyloveslucy · 12/11/2008 18:42

I suppose Bob has to better than frigging Zebedee. (taking cover now!!)

mummyloveslucy · 12/11/2008 18:45

Wasn't there a lady on hear recently thinking of the name Marmaduke ?
These children have to live with these names forever. I have an uncle Melvin who's never forgiven my Grandma.

ButterflyBessie · 12/11/2008 18:48

Right that's it.

What on earth is wrong with the delightful name Zebedee? it oozes charm and character, whereas Bob, quite simply, doesn't (unless you are a builder who sounds like Neil Morrisey)

LackaDAISYcal · 12/11/2008 18:51

just realised Seth wouldn't really work with your surname.....

Rufus

Julian

Henry

Zachary

Archie

mummyloveslucy · 12/11/2008 18:52

It might ooze charm and character, but I'm thinking what the other children will make of it in the class.
It's also not a name for a shy little boy. A zebedee would need a strong personallity to carry it off.

Marmaduke on the other hand really is hideous. He'd have to go to one of the top private schools in the country.

If he's un popular at school, they'll call him Cassy. Not many school children would remember Cassius Clay the boxer.

Nothing wrong with it for a Cat or certain bread of Dog maybe.
I can imagine a big fat ginger cat called Marmaduke.
In fact, that would be the perfect name for a big fat orange cat don't you think ?

thisisyesterday · 12/11/2008 19:02

kids will take the mickey out of any name though.
I have a very normal, super common name and people still twisted it into stupid things.

Because Cassius Clay was obveously very manly. Cassy is of corse a girls name, and a very femenin one at that.

LuLuBai · 12/11/2008 19:10

Chocorange I think it's perfectly normal to feel odd about giving your child a name. When DD was born we both instantly knew what she would be called but we a) didn't actually get round to telling anyone else for about a week b)referred to her simply as 'our baby' for the first year of her life

I acctually like Cassius though, or shortened to Cass but not Cassy.
Does he mind being called Cassy? If not, then there's no problem.

yes, got text, I replied too. i think?
can't do tomorrow as have dentist in morning and midwife in afternoon.
can do fri morning, but only if you're sure?

actually, could do fri afternoon, was going to go to bf cafe, but out of the 2 i'd rather be snuggling Cassy!

mummyloveslucy · 12/11/2008 19:16

Lockets, I think your name is traditional and classy. It's also very pretty and femenin. I'm not sure who would shorten the name? no one has ever shortened it that I know of. We sometimes call her Lulabelle, which is nothing like it but sounds sweet.
