What name do you secretly love but would never use for your child?

For me it's Silas - it reminds me of the adventure programmes I used to watch as a kid. I think one of my first crushes must have been on a character called Silas.

I did suggest it for DS1 (vetoed by DP), but thinking about it I wouldn't want to call my son Silas and I can't really explain why.

Does anybody else have a name that they wouldn't use, but really like nonetheless...?

DorisIsAPinkDragon · 05/10/2008 20:53

Dh wanted Balin ( suposed to be all war-y and manly like???!!!) but I vetoed

Unnecessary really as we had dd's

TheCelestialTeapot · 05/10/2008 20:54

Gaius.

falcon · 05/10/2008 20:55

I'm a Star Wars geek, but I love the name(Anakin) mostly because I really like the way it sounds.

rempy · 05/10/2008 20:56

Got seriously obsessed with Hector for DS.

And then, when I called him something much more boring, with Peregrine as a middle name.

Both veto'd.

suwoohoohoooooooo · 05/10/2008 20:58

For a girl, Mabel and Genevieve were vetoed in favour of Florence and DS was a boy. The names cast aside for a boy were, Seth (DH would say Seff ) Theo- same reason, Silas, (because of the horrible monk in that film) Reuben- too jewish according to DH (we live in a big jewish area and my grandad was jewish, so to DH) Sonny, Felix (the cat), Milo (the tweenies) and my absolute favourite was Wilfie after my grandad. It is also my dads middle name (wilfed) and he hated it so much through school and pretty much begged me not to call DS it. Went with Noah, which I see is on a fair few lists(he is nearly 2)

falcon · 05/10/2008 21:02

I love each and every one of those names Suwoohoo.

stayinbed · 05/10/2008 21:02

DH has said Cadence every time! But our surname is a C too. I do like it though.

Mylittlebubble · 05/10/2008 21:06

Scorpio - you could nickname her 'CC' sounds like a great idea

puddytats - I love both those names

Phlox · 05/10/2008 21:07

Tiger for a boy
Fushia for a girl

ellceeell · 05/10/2008 21:08
