What mame could be shortened to "Bo", I don't know why, but I love the nickname Bo.
I like traditional, classic names inc old english but want to be able to shorten it to somthing really sweet.
I liked the idea of someone naming their son Hugo and for short "Huggs". That's what gave me the idea.

Robert - Bobby - Boab - Bo

It's like homo sapiens to neanderthal

nuthacuppatea · 28/09/2008 21:31

Beau
Isabeau
Eliza-beau
bo-gey - Sorry!

Like you I love Bo and will either be using Bo / Beau / Isabeau or Belle /Bella / Isobel for my (soon to be born)DD's middle (and nick) name I should think . I already have a Bee (My other DDs middle name is Beatrix). Bee and Bo

ds gets called Bo for short

think you want girls names though

I also doubt anyonw WILL guess his name, its not an obvious abreviation

Slouchy · 28/09/2008 21:37

I was at school with a lad called Bo.

His name was Jonathan.

FILLYJONKhasayarnshopASBO · 28/09/2008 21:42

hmm

I am not sure how jonathan becomes Bo

It has also occured to me that "Bo" as an actual name with that spelling could lead to teasing. but then so can anything really.

CJMommy · 28/09/2008 21:45

Bronagh

Bodecia

I know people called these names who shorten it to 'Bo'.

LurkerOfTheUniverse · 28/09/2008 21:47

selecta?

umberella · 28/09/2008 21:47

As-bo?

MrsBadger · 28/09/2008 22:07

as suggested below, just call him something sensible and, if you like, call him Bo at home

Like Janeite, our DD has perfectly sensible first and middle names but is known affectionately as Boo.

snarky · 28/09/2008 22:09

Beatrice
Bridget
Bonnie
Bonita
Beau

but you could call your child whatever you want and use Bo as a pet name - there are no rules!

Gingerbear · 28/09/2008 22:30

Elbow

snarky · 28/09/2008 22:31

now gingerbear that's just cunty

Gingerbear · 28/09/2008 22:32

snurk.

Bo is a Swedish name. V cute, but also masculine, not feminine.

ellingwoman · 28/09/2008 22:38

Bo-peep

gagarin · 28/09/2008 22:42

The Face of...Bo? For you Dr Who geeks out there....

cthea · 28/09/2008 22:43

I heard a Bas today, shortened from Sebastian.

Bo can be from anything with a B in it.

bikerunski · 29/09/2008 10:16

My sister is Zoe and was nicknamed Bo when she was a baby - it's stuck for 30 years!

MrsBadger · 29/09/2008 13:25

I remembered last night that I once knew a Jo-Bo whose Bo was derived from her surname

Bowen (for a boy) is actually not too mad compared to some of the suggestions below...

boolean · 29/09/2008 14:28

I know a couple who named their child Darla Bo (Bo being the middle name) and thought it was lovely. If you like Bo then use Bo!
