Sophie?

why cant i decide on a name and stick with it?

am now considering Sophie.

thoughts?

can it rhyme with anything rude for that oh so lovely 'teasing people at school about their name' stage that kids go through.

might get shortened to Soph or Sofa but is nice..I have a cousin called Sofia

Our cat is called Sophie (she was my child substitute )We call her Sophie Pophie, or Pophster.

Sophie is lovely.

It seems to be one of those names that features at both ends of the social scale so there would be less potential for being judged on name alone iyswim.

I like it. I nearly chose it for dd1 but in the end didn't because it was so popular. Within weeks of her birth I met three other babies with the name we had chosen so I ignored the popularity lists for dd2 and dd3 and chose names we liked. If you like it, you should use it. What do your other dds think?

Yes, beautiful name but be warned, extremely popular especially with all the variations there are - Sophie, Sophia, Sofia, Sofie etc! One of the names we were considering if DS has been a girl but have met quite a few baby girls with that name now...

Sophie is very pretty, but I beg you to consider Susie. Practically every family I know has a Sophie. I have niece called Sophie. It is still lovely but you know when you hear a name so often that it ceases to leave any impression on you at all? Sophie is that for me.

Sylvie, Sadie or Susie would be just as pretty and a little bit more interesting.

But of course, it's your baby! Just making suggestions.

PS I do not prefer Sophia to Sophie though. That makes it more long-drawn-out and less pretty.

It's a lovely name and won't date but it's as common as dogs running barefoot Olivia round here.

I think Sophie is a really nice name.

belive it or not, with a family of well over 50 cousins and some of them having their own kids, i cant think of a single sophie yet!

Nice name, very popular (not sure about DD's school but there are THREE in Reception at her friend's school!) Don't use if you really dislike 'Soph', it WILL be used. DD's friend's mum isn't terribly impressed with 'Soph', though I reckon it's an improvement on 'Foph' (took months of intensive tutoring from nursery for DD to move on from that pronunciation!)

(oddly enough, Susie is Foph's cat, but it's not really a cat name )

I like Sophie and prefer it to Sophia. There is only one Sophie in my sons' school.
