CHRISTOPHER

It really is a great, underused name.

Shortenings - Kit, Kip, Tiff, Chris (Chris? Really?)

None of my DSes are called it, but it is a great name

Yup, classic name.

What's not to like??

TheFallenMadonna · 29/08/2008 12:59

Tiff? Really?

But yes, Christopher is rather nice.

cyteen · 29/08/2008 13:00

I don't like it

nailpolish · 29/08/2008 13:00

i think the same about William

lovely underused name

AnguaVonUberwald · 29/08/2008 13:00

We thought of it, by my sisters partner is called that, so it was too close to home for us. Good name though

MamaG · 29/08/2008 13:01

Its good because there aren't many of them about, but you won't get people saying "Christopher? Oh what an unusual name"

Hulababy · 29/08/2008 13:01

Not keen on Christopher; but William is a lovely name.

MamaG · 29/08/2008 13:01

naily I loved William, but there are quite a lot at DD's school - at least one per class

OP posts:
nailpolish · 29/08/2008 13:03

there are hardly any round here

thumbwitch · 29/08/2008 13:04

I like CHristopher but DH think's it's a gay hairdresser's name

WhereTheWildThingsWere · 29/08/2008 13:06

thumbwitch 'gay hairdresser'

MamaG · 29/08/2008 13:29

LOL at gay hairdresser! Surely only if its Christopher-Paul or similar

pinkblossom · 29/08/2008 13:35

Sorry, but absolutely 100% dislike it.

highschoolmusical · 29/08/2008 14:10

Yuk

belgo · 29/08/2008 14:13

nice name except

Tiff????? are you sure?
Kip is dutch for chicken.

I came across the name Zak the other name. Zak is dutch for pocket.

hw2004 · 29/08/2008 14:17

Hmmm..don't like it. I considered Christian but didn't like the shortening of Chris.

also, don't think William is underused at all. It's very, very popular round here.

nappyaddict · 29/08/2008 14:17

i've never known a christian be shortened to chris which is quite odd really.

CuckooSplodgeandTubs · 29/08/2008 14:20

My cousin has a Kit. I quite like it, but I find it a bit feminine too.

I know a lovely Christian. Much prefer it to Christopher, but would never have chosen it for my own son. I prefer a more religiously ambiguous name!

buttercreamfrosting · 29/08/2008 14:24

It's often shortened to Topher in the States....

I like it - I had mentioned it to DH, but then we both agreed we liked Christian better, which later became Tristan...so won't be using it, but it was the original inspiration for us.

CuckooSplodgeandTubs · 29/08/2008 15:40

Stiff would be a cool nn
