CHRISTOPHER

It really is a great, underused name.

Shortenings - Kit, Kip, Tiff, Chris (Chris? Really?)

None of my DSes are called it, but it is a great name

Mine would be Christopher

Oh well, it seemed a good idea!

Baby Brian/Vivian - doesn't sound right, whatever made our grandmothers pick these names for babies!?

pgwithnumber3 · 30/08/2008 21:30

You're alright then Olihan!

RhinestoneCowgirl · 30/08/2008 21:32

DH is Christopher (early 30s), but I only call him that if he's in trouble . Good strong name I think...

Olihan · 30/08/2008 21:38

I actually really like it as a name but it's very a bit weird to give your dc your parent's name - shows a distinct lack of imagination!

(My MIL has the same name as her mum. Her dad was left to register the name so he decided as it was a good enough name for his wife, it was a good enough name for her daughter . He didn't even give her a middle name so she had a choice . Poor MIL)

I know a grandmother, daughter and granddaughter all with the same name - Barbara! The other daughter is called Anne and the granddaughter is Barbara Anne.

zippitippitoes · 30/08/2008 21:57

my mums name was barbara

not very fashionable either

dont think my kids would have enjoyed being brian and barbara and er maybe my grandmas name gertrude

Clary · 31/08/2008 00:00

naily you are kidding about William.

We know hundreds. Four in DD's yr of 32 boys, so 1 in 8...

(And one small Christopher - sometimes known as Kiffer which I think is sweet).

Can I add Michael and John to this list of possibilities.

My mum's name is very popular now but she never knew any until the last 10 years - think Hannah or Olivia.

unknownrebelbang · 31/08/2008 00:08

DS1 was the only Christopher in his whole time at primary I think.

There is one in yr6 now but I don't think he came until DS1 left.

sillyberry · 31/08/2008 00:19

Isn't Christopher in the top 100 so not underused at all.
I don't like it. sorry

MamaG · 01/09/2008 11:45
