with the Baby Names threads?
Just call your baby what you like when it is born ... and then people can get used to calling your baby Tooty Frooty Smith or whatever as it is a done deal ....

But please stop listing names like:

Dante
Hector
Edith (Does anyone remember "'Allo 'Allo")
Blaise
Milton
BAYARD??? WTF?

I can't stand it anymore ....

is ghosty cod? only cod can get away with starting a thread like that

Weegiemum · 26/08/2008 14:54

I also knew people with a cat called Ghengis (as in Ghenghis Kahn).

Now theres a name due for a baby revival.

"Ghengis, honey, please don't scalp Oliver, I don't think he likes it !"

Sputnik · 26/08/2008 15:01

Do we know each other Weegie? 1 of my cats was called Genghis! (she turned out to be a girl too.)

Perhaps we should lobby MNHQ for a cat naming section.

Fennel · 26/08/2008 15:03

I could use a cat naming thread. One male and one female waiting for the right names. Unless we stick with Timothy and Orlando. I guess it shows you're really not broody for more children when you hang around on cat name threads rather than baby name threads.

Weegiemum · 26/08/2008 15:08

If you lived in the West Highlands once upon a time, than I might know you.

Cats full name was Ghangis Nimrod Beowulf. If it you, Hi! Havent heard from you in ages!

If not, Hi! - great to hear about someone with great cat-naming skills!

Raahh · 26/08/2008 15:09

i had a rabbit called Brian. It is a great name for a rabbit. Far better than Peter. Or Flopsy (common).

Also had a tortoise called Stanley (old pet chic).

Sputnik · 26/08/2008 15:37

Love the West Highlands but never lived there, so not me.

Fennel, why not start a thread for your cat name, someone else did that the other day.

3andnomore · 26/08/2008 21:28

lol Raahh...my rabbits were called Mr Mc'Murphy and Gemini...suited them, imo

Now, I was reply about the suggestion of Fabio for my girl kitten and than I saw the post about the girl called Timothy...what can I say now....lol...call it Timotei (as in teh shampoo)....as for Fabio, tis a boys name....and Fabia sounds to much like Labia.....

as for Ghengis Khan...if the girl would have been a boy (Kitten now) qouls have been a boy we may have gone for that ...I mean, come on I would be at the backdoor shouting Ninja....Ghengis Khan...kinda cool, lol!

Tbh, so far it is still Ziva for this one....lol...

surprise · 26/08/2008 21:32

Ghosty, what do you mean? Some of us love to read the baby name threads. I know I do, as do my children, Chlamydia, S'heffield and Qwertyuiop-Vanilla.

ghosty · 27/08/2008 00:28

Swiftyknickers: "is ghosty cod? only cod can get away with starting a thread like that "

hahahahahashahahahahahahahaha
LOLOLOL ...

I like baby name threads.

They epitomise the pointless angst of pre-baby.
You have to read the poster's mind.
Adjust for fickle natures and hormones.
Predict worries and hangups relating to aunties called Mildred.
And then balance honesty with diplomacy.
Tis a perfect exercise in futility.

And there is no right answer to any of it.

purpleduck · 27/08/2008 01:13

ghosty, that list looks scarily like the "men I've had" list

suedonim · 27/08/2008 01:23

Actually, I might call our next cat Roy. It's due for a revival, I reckon.

Weegiemum · 27/08/2008 01:25

Our Guniea pigs are called Zack and Ben.

Often mentioned here on the baby name threads.

well, Zachariah and Benjamin, as Guinea Pigs are distinguished creatures who need distinguished names!

suedonim · 27/08/2008 01:52

When I was a teenager my mum had a guinea pig called Hector. And a tortoise named Thaddeus.

I'm still waiting for a Mumsnettter to name a baby after my grandad - Methusaleh!

3andnomore · 27/08/2008 07:18

now sue...Methusaleh would be a serious cool name for a tomcat....

When I was little we had a Tortoise called Amanda
Our one cat that did not get run over or run away was called Susi....she lived to the grandage of 18 years (iirc)
my grandmas grumpy weird looking dog was called Bobby....

choosyfloosy · 27/08/2008 07:24

just looked through Active Convos and saw a thread starting 'Urticaria and Eczema...' and assumed it was a baby name thread. I think I need to go cold turkey on them for a bit.

3andnomore · 27/08/2008 07:28

lmao....choosy....that is quite funny

papooshka · 27/08/2008 07:46

I'm quite new to MN and this is the first time I've looked at the baby names board, and I am nearly wetting myself - not hard when you are 24 weeks pregnant but I haven't laughed so hard for ages - at this thread and all the other weird names!!

thanks girls

stillstanding · 27/08/2008 15:36

how can you start a baby name thread, say stop starting baby name threads and then list a whole lot of baby names? back in your corner, ghosty

Fimbo · 27/08/2008 15:40

I think we should just name all our dc after our MN names.

Fimbo for a child has a nice ring non?
