God I have never seen so many shite name threads in my life.

What happened to calling children names which are suitable from birth through to adulthood?

I mean come on, get a grip.

Poor children

Golden rule:

Name your children- and think how it would sound if they where prime minister

Any names in particular?

PuppyMonkey · 14/08/2008 10:16

Fox would be a good name for a Prime Minister imho.

lilymolly · 14/08/2008 10:17

Fox
Buttercup
Cant remember the others

I mean yes have an unusual name for your children but remember they have to live with it forever

Fox seriously

There's a character in "Vile bodies" (Evelyn Waugh) called Fanny Throbbing. I don't think she's a PM.

wannaBe · 14/08/2008 10:30

buttercup? I can hear it now in years to come, "that buttercup, she's a right old cow.".

ForeverOptimistic · 14/08/2008 10:30

Lol.

lilymolly · 14/08/2008 10:32

Not sure if the buttercup thread was ever proven tbh- could have been wrong

Wasnt the princess in princess bride film called buttercup?

Love that film

Fanny throbbing

lilymolly · 14/08/2008 10:45

lilymolly · 14/08/2008 10:47

Ilyus is a muslim/greek name

I will take that one back - thats allowed as its a cultural name

3andnomore · 14/08/2008 11:10

lol Ilyus sounds far to much like Ileus (which is the medical term for a bloackage of the intestines)

admittedly, originally we had the name Melina picked, should ds 2 have been a girl....until some of the nurses I worked with mentioned that it reminded them of Melaena (blood in stool)...HMMMM...PUT ME RIGHT OFF, lol

nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 11:11

oh perhaps that's why ilyus sounded familiar.

3andnomore · 14/08/2008 11:13

but lilly...I may well could imagine the Pm being called Wilfred, I would still think it's an ugly name(sorry to all those that like the name).....
just an example

JackieNo · 14/08/2008 11:14

Ooh - was watching 'Who do you think you are' with Patsy Kensit last night, and one of her ancestors' daughters was called 'Cestria' - I thought that was quite a pretty name, but not sure you'd get away with it these days.

nappyaddict · 14/08/2008 11:18

cestria???? reminds me of kestrel a bit.

JackieNo · 14/08/2008 11:21

After a very quick google, Cestria may have something to do with the city of Chester. Still a pretty sounding name, imo.

cthea · 14/08/2008 11:28

Ilyus sounds like Aloysius (Brideshead Revisited, another Evelyn Waugh).
