DD3 born at christmas, middle name Mary, for various reasons, not just time of birth.
She has the names of Tudor Queens!

Epiphany for the 6th of Jan? I saw that in The Times Birth announcements once. I kinda like it, but it's too ecclesiastic for me.

MsHighwater · 29/07/2008 23:02

I used to know someone who was born around the time of the other major Christian festival and her name is Easter. Her father was a minister and she went on to become one, too.

CuckooClockWiseGuy · 29/07/2008 23:05

Easter, I like that. I prefer it to Esther. Very different obviously!!! Esther was a name I used to think of as a Jewish name. Now I don't know, wouldn't assume. Easter is unusual and pretty but not off the wall loop the loop wtf?

Nicole Kidman could use that for her 2nd child.

PilgrimSoul · 29/07/2008 23:11

I have worked with a couple of Mexican guys called Jesus.

thumbwitch · 29/07/2008 23:12

origins of Esther

thumbwitch · 29/07/2008 23:14

sidetrack - Epiphany reminds me too much of Eponnee from Kath and Kim...

CuckooClockWiseGuy · 29/07/2008 23:19

Never even seen that but now you say it, Eponee-Rae is coming in to my head.

thumbwitch · 29/07/2008 23:21

that's the girl - the best episode was when they got Kylie Minogue to be Eponnee-Rae in a future-time scenario - brilliant!

CuckooClockWiseGuy · 29/07/2008 23:25

"i'm going to lose weight the old fashioned way - cigarettes and laxatives". that is a K&K line I heard when I saw the programme for 2 minutes once. It must have been good.

raggety · 29/07/2008 23:34

How about Meredith ('Merry' for short)?

thingamajig · 30/07/2008 00:27

Congratulations on your pregnancy. As my mum said to me "Some people will do anything to get out of cooking Christmas dinner"
dd was born 25-12-07 and is gorgeous. We didnt want to call her anything themed but it was suggested lots in a joking way.

Dannat · 30/07/2008 00:51

We named DD Natalie and apparently it means born on Christmas Day (she wasn't). Maybe one to consider as it is a different name to Natalia?

Congrats by the way!

ethanchristoper · 17/08/2008 23:33

no dont

please dont

she'll hate you

SilkCutMama · 17/08/2008 23:36

I just love the line in "Dinner Ladies" when Victoria Woods' mother says

"Oh yes, she was born on Christmas eve that's why we called her Brenda"

Just makes me giggle (that and the fact I love Julie Walters!)

happyhoney · 17/08/2008 23:50

nappyaddict · 18/08/2008 01:20

nappyaddict · 18/08/2008 01:23

donna?

cupid is the other reindeer name that could be used but it is a boys name.

broodymom · 19/08/2008 13:01

Hi my dd2 is Hollie and was born close to christmas. we loved the name Holly and decided to use this (Hollie) spelling so she would not be tagged xmas baby is she did not want to be. She is 7 and loves her name and at xmas she usually gets cards with holly conffetti and she loves it !! we did also consider Noelle i think it is a lovely name and we also really liked Celeste. Most names are chosen to reflect something or other why not xmas its such a happy occasion. xxx

LilRedWG · 19/08/2008 13:04

Please do not do this to your child. I have a Christmassy name for similar reasons and was teased unmercifully throughout my childhood, especially when we were reading a certain Dickens book at school....

Use a seasonal name as a middle name, by all means.

A couple of years ago DH wrote on my Christmas card, "Happy Christmas Carol" and forgot to put the all important comma in - he still chuckles about it now.
