This name thing is getting ridiculous. Can anyone suggest any nice WELSH names?

Baby due next month and we're still no further on than we were 8 months ago. Am getting very stressed that this poor child could be nameless for weeks!

My name is Scandinavian as is DS1's but our surname is Welsh. Having not got very far with agreeing on more Scandinavian names, (maybe Magnus for a boy, but I'm less sure than DH) I'm wondering if we should go for something Welsh. (DS's middle name is Welsh and we're debating moving there so thought it might be a plan.)

We are considering Arianwen for a girl. (Well, I am, DH not so much. We just can't agree this time at all!)

Any suggestions? Please?!

Do you live in Wales? If not they may well have a life time of spelling it, and many people will not be able to pronounce it properly (I'm welsh BTW)

I love Gareth for a boy, but could use it myself as we have lots in the family already

Seren is lovely. I used to really like Ceridwen as well but I guess it would just get shortened to Kerry, so not convinced now.

Cerys is lovely, and most people will know how to spell it! I also like Angharad and Ffion.

The nerys I'm think about isn't 50, but acts as if she is.....

What do you think the etiquette is when you know people who have kids with the names you like? Is it weird to nick them?

Unbelievably, I found out that my #2 choice for a boy (Sennen) is also my brother's #1 choice. He then got really pissy and told me I couldn't use it! (He hasn't even got a girlfriend, let alone kids.) I guess if it wasn't so unusual it wouldn't be such a problem...

I've never heard of an Iolo! How do you pronounce that?

Mabli is unfortunately a name a lot of people in Wales use for their Dog!

I am Welsh (well, I wasn't born here but considermyself Welsh) and think it would be nice to give my children a Welsh middle name but I find a lot of the female names very harsh sounding.

Gwawr for example.
Gwawr is Dawn
Enfys is Rainbow
Eira is Snow
Blodwen is White flowers

The short version of Ceridwen is spelt Ceri not Cery. And Ceridwen means blessed poetry while Ceri is thought to derive from the Welsh word for Love.
