Name for girl twin which doesn't end in vowel or start with E or F!

It's very difficult finding a girl's name that fits with our surname which starts with E and ends with son so out so anything like Madison. I've discovered that anything with a vowel or y on the end sounds rubbish e.g. Lily, Anna.

I like Iris and Maeve, but dp doesn't. We've only agreed I think on Erin and Elise but don't want another E name as ds2's starts with E and I don't think it sounds that great with our surname. DS1's name starts with F and we've already chosen boy twin's name starting with F so don't want another.

I have read through 14,000 name book already and am wondering if we'll have a name for her esp if they arrive early. Any ideas given my very restrictive request?? Pretty please? I had already posted on here about celtic names for them both but had to give that up as dp didn't like anything I did!

I have a friend with three girls called Garance, Constance and Clarisse.

overthehill · 12/07/2008 23:25

Sorry, you said that you both agreed on Erin and Elise, but I'd not realised that they & only two other names were the only ones that your dh could bring himself to consider. Another piece of lateral thinking: perhaps you should go for one of the E names if you both like them - and change your surname - eg to your maiden name??? I know a couple who changed to an old family name before their third child was born, although the parents both keep their original names for work purposes.

I love the names
Blythe
Juliette (like the Dire Straits song the dice was loaded from the start)
Alice
Beatrice

Makes me wish I was having a dd to chose a name for. Or four!

thumbwitch · 12/07/2008 23:48

what is the 'F' name you have chosen for your b-twin? It might give inspiration.

Fimbo · 12/07/2008 23:51

Juliet
Mary-Ann
Jennifer
Abigail
Lindsay

goodasgold · 12/07/2008 23:54

Love the name Jennifer too. In private you can call her Jenny and not worry about your surname.

Would Tallulah go?

thumbwitch · 12/07/2008 23:56

Belle
Grainne
Caitlin
Dionne

Fimbo · 12/07/2008 23:56

I wanted Jennifer, dh wanted Elinor.

We had a boy!

I am constantly surprised at how many names you all come up with! Skye is one of my favourites so far. Beatrice is beautiful but I know several already.

My dt boy's name is to be Felix although I think we should have a backup in case it doesn't suit.

Over the Hill, seems a bit radical to change dp's name and the older ds's just so we can have Erin! The older ds's have my surname as their middle name already, I wasn't intending on changing my name when we eventually got married (engaged 9 years now!). I really like my surname being part of theirs but we don't use it double barrelled, it's just a middle name that the twins will have too.

Accessorize, it's really good to see you! How are things going? Get back on the twins thread and let me know...have been wondering if all was ok and how you were coping with the boys. I am not coping very well this week and you are further on than me.

How strange! This is EXACTLY the dilemma we have! Our surname begins with an 'e' and ends in 'el', so we can't have names ending in vowels or 'el' (Shame as I really like Joel, Daniel, Samuel - but they are all fine for you!). 'Erin' is also on our girls list, which currently stands at 2 we agree on!

So far we are really stuck on names and don't love anything...I am hoping for inspiration a week before the birth like happened with ds (although now I find his name is no.3 in the ranking and I never wanted a 'popular' name).

Girls: Charis, Lauren, Agnes, Edith (Edie), Marigold (I love it but of course no-one else does), Suzanne

Boys: Elliot, Linden, Carl, James, Joel

Unisex: Rowan (though I prefer it on a boy)

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 07:39

Hullo MM, sorry to hear you're not doing too well I'm alright at the mo as dr said I had to leave work so I get 3 days a week of relative rest! One twin has too much fluid so getting scanned tomorrow to double check. Which twins thread do you mean d'ya ever or another one & will pop over!

My ds2's name is the one starting with E! I do like it, but never sounds right with the surname. You still have a while to go with names (as do I unless they arrive very early!) though to really love them.

Just read whole thread. Hee hee...our 'pretend' names for the babies are Felix and Felicity.(Dh's name is Felician). I like both names, but too similar to his name and Elliot is rather like mine. I don't mine 'E', 'E'. In fact I really wanted Eve for a girl, but sil has it as middle name for her daughter and is a bit weird about things like that. If we are stuck, I may have to beg and plead her .

Well done for having a boys name?! You are well ahead of us. Can ask your other ds's names as inspiration for us? (WE live far enough away!).

I think there is more pressure on the girl's name too, as it's gonna be the only girl you get to name (well, it will be for me) and like you, I want something pretty. Lol at Vegetation. I know a girl called 'Cedar'.

Our surname is FOUR syllables so do want something short. I like Meredith and Madeleine, but both long. Blythe is my favourite on here so far, but am predicting dh's reaction! Names ending in 'bel' are pretty but I don't like them much.

Sorry for semi hijack! If I think of any more, I will let you know.

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 16:52

How about Gabriel? Another favourite that we can't have because of our 'el' surname.

Dh vetoed Blythe, but may be convinced on Iris. Wouldn't want to steal it from you though!

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 22:21

I think we're twins, actually MM. Gabriel was my first choice for boy twin, nixed by dp as usual. He's not going to go for Iris so you're not knicking it from me, aq says sadly.

DP came up with Natalie today, which I quite like. But not love.

MerryMarigold · 13/07/2008 22:29

hmmmm...i come from a place where 'na'alay' was quite common name in my age group(you don't pronounce the 't' and the ending is pronounced as above - but the French version is nice).

Darn 'Gabe' is such a cool name. I think maybe our dh's are twins! Vetoing everything. though I was proud of my dh to even consider Blythe. I've gone off Iris (even though I love the name) as it says to me fair skin and blue eyes and we are a mixed family so have olive skinned children. It just wouldn't 'go'!

accessorizequeen · 13/07/2008 22:37

You asked me my other ds's names. I think I'm easily discoverable on here anyway - you've come up with Elliot already, ds1 is Fraser. So it will be Fraser, Elliot, Felix and .......? I tried Skye out on dp, he just laughed at me.
