Howard, with Howie for short. I always think as Parker as a girl.

Hulababy · 02/07/2008 19:29

Not really my choice of names bu of the three...prossibly Abraham, shoertened to Abe.

greenelizabeth · 02/07/2008 22:02

Howard is nice. But I like names that are quirky classics. Like Howard and Victor. They will come back. Not yet, but if you had a baby Howard eyebrows would raise for the first year or two. And then... There would be another HOWARD... somewhere.

Parker or Cooper... hmm, no. Random sur name as a first name. It's supposed to be preppy in USA, supposed to give the impression that 'our family stepped off the Mayflower doncha know, not a drop of HIspanic blood in me, no siree'. BUT in GB it seems even more inappropriate. I quite like Fraser and Spencer, but again, not really my cup of tea.

Abraham, that's kind of heavy. Wow. Not my favourite bible name. I like Seth and Saul. They are underused and they have less luggage.

girlandboy · 02/07/2008 22:05

greenelizabeth - my dh's name is Saul. He's never met another one (unless you can count a labrador).

girlandboy · 02/07/2008 22:06

However, he does have to constantly repeat his name AND spell it out. He has to say "you know, like Paul but with an S".

He gets called Sol, Sean and Sole.

Hmmmmmm
However, I like it.

giddykipper · 02/07/2008 22:07

DS is Seth and I constantly have to spell it for people

Sidge · 02/07/2008 22:08

Um, none of those.

Sorry.

QueenyEisGotTheBall · 02/07/2008 22:09

i like parker but it has always been a girls name whenever i heard it
im not fussed on the other two though
i like greenelizabeth's suggestion of fraser and also cooper (even though that wasnt a suggestion iyswim) is nice. i know an MNer with a little cooper and hes beautiful so another plus
xx ei xx

scanner · 02/07/2008 22:10

Are you American?

greenelizabeth · 02/07/2008 22:12

Saul was on my list for my son. It's so easy. How can people struggle with it. They must be really thick.

Flum · 02/07/2008 22:12

Where did Howie suddenly come from. My mate just called her boy that. Makes me think of Happy Days.

Dragonbutter · 02/07/2008 22:15

FWIW, DS2 is Sol. Tis lovely.

Parker reminds me of lady penelope.
Abraham quite cool
Howie, i dunno.

pointydog · 02/07/2008 22:15

none

girlandboy · 02/07/2008 22:16

greenelizabeth - I know what you mean. Saul will say his name, and people just go "What".
His grandad also very rarely got it right. Used to call him Sean. I ask you......

themildmannneredjanitor · 02/07/2008 22:16

none of them. sorry.

tulip27 · 02/07/2008 22:17

Are you jewish?

WigWamBam · 02/07/2008 22:17

Parker ... "Yus, m'lady". Best hope Thunderbirds doesn't come back into fashion again; Parker is my surname and Thunderbirds was the bane of dh's life when he was at school.

I like Howard, but Howie doesn't do much for me. Maybe OK as a nickname.

Don't like Abraham.

CantSleepWontSleep · 02/07/2008 22:18

Abraham, although Howie is quite cute too (go for Howard for formal occasions though).

NorthernLurker · 02/07/2008 22:18

Parker is a girls name imo
Abraham is ok - but a bit 'stiff' to bellow across the beach or the car park maybe?
Howie is Not Good unless it's a short form of Howard - and even then I'm not enthusiastic tbh.

LynetteScavo · 02/07/2008 22:21

Obviously I'm going to say Parker - have never heard of it as a girls name.

Not keen on abraham atall.

LOVE Howie

Dragonbutter · 02/07/2008 22:21

Thunderbirds are very much in fashion in my house.

greenelizabeth · 02/07/2008 22:37

Parker is considered unisex in USA because of actress Parker Posy.

I love the name Posy. Posy Parker sounds so much better imo.

greenelizabeth · 02/07/2008 22:39

The 'are you Jewish?' comment makes no sense to me, unless you also ask everybody who called their child Ethan if they are Jewish too?

Comerscroft · 03/07/2008 06:18

Parker? Nosey Parker. Parker pen. Extraordinary.

MrsJohnCusack · 03/07/2008 06:43

there is an actor caloled Parker Stevenson so yes it's unisex (he used to be married to Kirstie Alley and was in the Hardy BOys)

I don't really like any of themn TBH, sorry.
