Charles and Charlotte?

We have a 1.5 year old boy named Charlie (Charles), and I'm 20 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

My husband wants to name her Charlotte with the nickname "Lottie." However, I can't get past the idea that Charlotte is the female version of Charles. I keep telling him it would be like naming our kids Henry and Henrietta.

So... Charlie and Lottie...Charles and Charlotte.... is it weird? Do you like those names together?

My first impression would be that you really like the royal family.

They have. One is Charles and the other might be named Charlotte. Different names.

Both may want nickname Charli

How about Siân (Sharn)? Similar sound at the beginning to Charlotte.

I think they sound too similar although unlikely they would both be called Charlie.
As our King is Charles, we are now in the Carolean era. Charlotte is not the feminine of Charles.

Well it is. Charlotte and Caroline are both female versions of Charles

the era of Henry VIII was the Henrician, but the female of Henry is Henrietta. It’s just with Charles we have two female variants. Which can be a thing. For John, there’s Joanna, Jane, Joan ….

Every Charlotte I know is called Charlie. Even two whose parents insisted on Lottie.

I think if you instill a nickname from the very off it sticks. I have a couple of friends whose kids go by diminutives and when they announced their names, they announced the full name and "to be known as" and I have never ever called them their full name.

But that's an entirely different thing altogether. No to Charlie and Charlotte!

Don’t call your child Charlotte if you already have a Charles. One could almost say that doing so would make you a proper Charlie.
