Charles and Charlotte?

We have a 1.5 year old boy named Charlie (Charles), and I'm 20 weeks pregnant with a baby girl.

My husband wants to name her Charlotte with the nickname "Lottie." However, I can't get past the idea that Charlotte is the female version of Charles. I keep telling him it would be like naming our kids Henry and Henrietta.

So... Charlie and Lottie...Charles and Charlotte.... is it weird? Do you like those names together?

No, sorry. Your husband needs to give his head a wobble, you absolutely can’t call her Charlotte.

Why not use Henrietta (Hetty) or Harriet (Hattie) which feel similar. Or just go with Lottie.

Nope although I do know a Jack and John and also a Liam and Billie

I have cousins ( they're siblings)called Michael and Michelle. It has never been an issue for them.

What if they end up as Charlie and Charlie Samesurname? Tell your DH that other names are available.

With which one? Jack is a nickname for John - see also Harry and Henry and Liam and Billie are both derivations of William. They are the same name.

If ifs for the nickname lottie just call her Lottie? Or other names that could use that nickname - Ottilie, Lorette, Elliot.

How about Ettie/Lettie or Ottie for the nickname with Violette, Scarlet, Ottilia, Hariette

Historically Jack has been a nickname for John and William gives Liam and Bill(ie) but I don't think they're remotely similar to Charlotte and Charles

Unfortunately Carlotta is also the feminine version of Charles/Carlos.
