Sorrel or Manon

Wondered if anyone knew anyone with these names and what they think of them

Sorrel, Elowen, Manon (pronounced Welsh way.

Two syllable surname.

Also what goes well as a middle name. Family names don’t really suit and have been used apart from Mai (pronounced My)

Sorrel. Manon makes me think of the film The Craft, which I love but which might not be what you want (beyond good and evil).

I'm hoping these are Throne of Glass inspired otherwise my suggestion of Asterin is going to seem off 🤣
Personally of the two I'd say Manon, but only if it's pronounced correctly

Sorrel is the colour of a horse. Not sure about Manon.

Manon reminds me of Jean de Florette/Manon des sources, such a sad story. Not a fan of the name.

Either of the other two are nice - i think my vote would go for Sorrel.

I know a Sorrel - probably in her late 30s now. I know two Elowens - both are babies or toddlers. I do know a Manon but she’s French.

Love Manon, probably because I like Manon Carpenter!

These are the Garth Pig books - there are lots of siblings and you’re right, I think one of the older sisters is called Sorrel.
I don’t know the ice cream van one but I remember Mrs Pig’s Bulk Buy, where they all had to have ketchup for every meal till they got fed up of it; and Mr and Mrs Pig’s Evening Out, where there was a wolf babysitter but she was outwitted.

Still think Sorrel is primarily a lovely child actress from the Noel streatfield book curtain up though.

Sorrel makes me think of soil. Also there was a really obnoxious girl at my school called sorrel.. not that that’s your problem. Manon makes me think about Amandaland… Manus!

Sorrel is okay - don’t like Manon, I think it’s quite stern sounding and the only Manon I have ever known has been so. Elowyn I think is a bit of a mouthful

I always think Sorrel sounds like a root vegetable.

I like Manon, but I've only heard it pronounced the French way.

Elowen is too eleven adjacent for me.

I would pronounce Mah-NUHN in French MA-non in English - is this correct?

I'd expect an Eirian to be 60-ish plus it's got 2 diphthongs.
The Ei doesn't have an exact transcription in English, but the ia is ya like in yap.
The r is in the first syllable and people will struggle with it.
Nearest transcription would be EYR-yann.
Eira has the same issue.

Lived in an affluent area if Surrey for 15 years and heard Sorrel and Manon, quite like Sorrel in A Surrey accent but really depends as I'm northern and in a geordie accent its be ghastly eg. Manon is a little grand and fairytalish to me but its each to their own.

Like to expand on the no? I have a French relative and she pronounces her name Mah-Nuhn (that's the best way I can think to phonetically write it - emphasis on nuhn/noh). The last n is almost silent!
