Is Eliahna trendy and overused?

Thoughts on the name Eliahna for a little girl? The shortening (Ellie) is somewhat basic and overused, but it wouldn't bother me that much because DH and I wouldn't have to call her Ellie. I'm just wondering if the full name (including every spelling variant) has also been overused. I know that it seems to have become very popular and trendy in the 2010s. Is it still?

I like Eliana. It's trendy in the UK now, but it's not made up and it does have a longer history of use in countries such as Italy, Chile etc.

The Eliahna spelling just looks awkward to me. My phone autocorrects it to Eliana.

If not - Helene, Eleanor, Eliane as the French version, Elaine, Leona…

Overused? I’ve never heard of it. No idea how it would be pronounced either.

I don’t think use the h. People would get that wrong.

I don't think Eliana/Elliana/Elianna is super common at the moment but definitely growing in popularity.

That spelling is heinous! Eliana is nice but good only knows why you would shoehorn that H in there!

Eliana is one of the fastest rising baby names in England and Wales, storming into the top 100 in 2025 (62nd, up 54 places from 2024).

It's not to my taste at all, as I do find it overly fussy and I'm not keen on any name with an ('arna') sound at the end. The El part is the nicest bit, but I think there are many preferable choices such as Eloise, Eliza, Elodie, Elora.

The current popularity itself wouldn't bother me, but it's insane rise would as that suggests it will be faddy. Names which rise so rapidly usually fall just as quickly a few years later.

Obviously it's up to you if you go for it, but I would advise spelling it without an h if you do.

That is the name of two of the Uvalde school victims in Texas. 😢 It was the first thing I thought of. I'd go with a different spelling - Eliana, Elianna, Elliana, Ellianna, etc. There's so many.

My DD is called Eliana (El- ee-ana) only met a couple others to date. I do think drop the h in the spelling as it confuses people, I call her Eli for short but she hate when I do that.

Oh no! We live in the UK so have never heard of this, but that's a terrible association. I thought my DH had created a new spelling. I didn't know there was anyone else with this same spelling. We may have to relegate it to the middle name spot or change the spelling.

It's nice enough, but I would definitely drop that "h" from the middle of it as that just messes things up and looks off. Eliana/Elianna would be far more "natural" and nicer ways to spell it.
