Yep, same as the others for me too

ScoobyDoesnt · 25/06/2026 16:01

I’d pronounce it Eye-da-lee

The same as this, maybe some people may say Id (like lid) a - lee. Never heard it before very nice name!

notanothernamesurely · 25/06/2026 16:08

Idly. Like something done in an idle way.

lemoncurdcupcake · 25/06/2026 16:09

Same as I'd pronounce idly.

reesewithoutaspoon · 25/06/2026 16:09

Eye da lee. Sounds very similar to idly

jsku · 25/06/2026 16:10

Eye - da - lai (=as the word lie)…

Is that your own invention for a name? Sounds like an utterance in some obscure language, not a name yo me.
sorry

Oliwiaa · 25/06/2026 16:11

My first thought was Id-ah-lee-eh but then I thought maybe Ida-Lee.

RaraRachael · 25/06/2026 16:12

i -DA- lay with a short i as the start of in, not eye if that makes sense

Just had a Google

Idalie is a rare, historically rooted given name primarily used for girls, with German origins meaning "active" and French/Swedish roots translating to "behold the sun".

QuaintBeaker · 25/06/2026 16:13

I pronounced it the same as most people on this thread and immediately realised it sounds like 'idly'

Boreded · 25/06/2026 16:15

Like ‘she laid around the house idly’

MurunBuchstansangursCousinRossiter · 25/06/2026 16:16

To rhyme with fiddly.

OtherS · 25/06/2026 16:25

First thought was eye-DAH-lee, but also idly and iddly. Don't love it, sorry. With any pronunciation.

KnickerlessParsons · 25/06/2026 16:25

Idd-a-lee

Silverbirchleaf · 25/06/2026 16:29

My first thought was Idd -Da-Lee, a bit like saying Italy, but with an ‘Idd’ at the beginning.

CareerHelpAt53 · 25/06/2026 16:33

Id a lee

like saying Italy with a blocked nose

Supersleepysheepy · 25/06/2026 16:36

notanothernamesurely · 25/06/2026 16:08

Idly. Like something done in an idle way.

Yes, this is how I would pronounce it too.

24Dogcuddler · 25/06/2026 16:37

Ida and lie ( ly or ligh to rhyme with nigh ) so
Idaligh
Constantly be having to spell it or it would be mispronounced.

ArabellaWeird · 25/06/2026 16:38

Eye-dally

Eye Da Lie?

Is it a name or a puzzle?

Thewalrusandthecarpenter · 25/06/2026 16:39

If someone said their name was Idalie, my first thought would be Ida Lee, with Lee being their surname. It’s pretty though.

BlackRedGold · 25/06/2026 16:41

I’d pronounce it Ee dah lee.

Sort of like the way someone with a French accent might pronounce Italy.

DoAWheelie · 25/06/2026 16:42

I'd say it similar to Natalie but with the id sound from "idiot" in place of "nat"

Word choice is nothing to do with my opinion! I just couldn't think of any other way to describe it.
