Nyleen/Nylene

Do you like Nyleen/Nylene (not sure of the spelling) for a girl, or is it too unusual? I can’t remember where I first heard this name, but I remember thinking it was pretty. I certainly like it more than Darlene, Marlene, Maureen, and Norene, as it feels fresher. I actually think this style of name is due a comeback.

Sounds like a brand name for tights.

maras2 · 04/06/2026 02:30

Sounds like a character in a 1970's Aussie soap.

GreatGreta · 04/06/2026 02:30

Reminds me of neoprene

TheMillionthBeautyAddict · 04/06/2026 02:31

It sounds like Nylon.

GreatGreta · 04/06/2026 02:31

Also, https://nylene.com

garlictwist · 04/06/2026 02:34

It sounds medical. Or like someone who has a bad perm.

Topseyt123 · 04/06/2026 02:36

No. Don't. It sounds very like nylon.🤔

Would Polyester be better. 😃

mathanxiety · 04/06/2026 02:39

Sounds like a coating to paint over nail polish, that would prevent chipping.

Please don't call your child Nylene or Nyleen.

sesquipedalian · 04/06/2026 02:41

It sounds like a made-up name - a mix of Nylon and Crimplene. Just don’t do it, OP.

Hinthebuild · 04/06/2026 02:48

How could you forget to mention Colleen, Eileen, and Kathleen, OP? Those are classics.

LittleRoom · 04/06/2026 02:57

Makes me think of Nylon. Sorry.

jsku · 04/06/2026 02:59

It’s a name for something chemical or medical. Certainly not for a human child.

EnidVance · 04/06/2026 05:55

Sounds like Nylon. It’s a very ugly name.

This.

Diorama2 · 04/06/2026 06:01

Sounds like nylon, but I really like Nyra , think it’s got South Asian roots and possibly others

Polly-Esther should be hyphenated!

queenofwandss · 04/06/2026 06:17

What about Nadine or Jadine instead? Nylene sounds like a chemical or a plastic to me so I wouldn’t use it.

Halfhardy · 04/06/2026 06:24

It sounds like the kind of name ICI used for its nylon based fabrics in the 60s. Have you thought of using Crimplene?

OrdinaryGirl · 04/06/2026 06:25

sanityisamyth · 04/06/2026 06:01

Polly-Esther should be hyphenated!

CHAPEAU! 🫡

sashh · 04/06/2026 06:26

Sorry I think of Nylon too.

Theseagullsarenowclouds · 04/06/2026 06:32

No.

Maybeitllneverhappen · 04/06/2026 06:34

How about Lycra??

Tabarnak · 04/06/2026 06:35

Of the ‘een’ names I only like Roisin and Irene (pref pronounced Ireney)

Nylene sounds like a very chemically cleaning product.

Love this!

Please, don't do it. It sounds like a brand name for tights.
