Could anyone offer any thoughts on any of these names please? Rosanna, Amy, Bethany, Cara, Christina, Abigail, Faith, Hope, Joanna, Holly, Rhiannon, Tessa, Leona, Alice, Leah, Mariah. Really struggling to narrow it down! Thanks!

I also prefer Leonie to Leona

Rosetyler1 · 12/05/2026 21:41

I was supposed to be narrowing it down but tonight I've ended up just thinking about even more options to add to the list! 🙃 Any thoughts on Susanna, Rosa, Sadie or Lucy?

Susanna - fine but it can also be spelt Susannah. Likely to be shortened.
Rosa - ok
Sadie - ok
Lucy - like a lot but it and other short L names are very popular.

salcombebabe · 12/05/2026 21:48

From your list OP I love Cara 🥰

Fernhurst · 12/05/2026 21:49

My favourites are
Cara, Christina ,Tessa, Leona, Alice, Leah,

RegalDiamondMonster · 12/05/2026 21:52

Susanna - I like it more than Rosanna and less than Joanna- probably because I don't much like Sue or Suzie which could be shortenings. The full name is nice.
Sadie- fine
Rosa - elegant, my favourite of the Rose/Rosie/Rosemary/Romy type names
Lucy - good name.

Delici · 12/05/2026 21:57

I love Rosa.

Rosa Alice (although initials would be RAW!).

I like Lucy!

Lucy Alice.

If you are considering Sadie you have to google Johnny Farnham Sadie (it's on you tube).

I can't decide if these were just more innocent times or it is entirely indecent but it is definitely like a weird dream. ETA you need the leotard version!

PeanutbutterPickle · 12/05/2026 22:42

Cara is my favourite- it’s a lovely name

LoudPlumDog · 13/05/2026 11:38

Love all but Sadie.

So many lovely girls names about.

Estelle Williams is beautiful.

Remember your surname is very common so you may not want a very common first name.

Celeste
Naomi
Saskia
Freya
Natalia
Genevieve
Amali
Nina
Lucille
Charlotte

NamingNoNames · 13/05/2026 11:42

Rosa Alice doesn't flow.

@LoudPlumDog , Freya and Charlotte are both very popular - far more popular than the OP's suggestions.

Oh dear I'd never heard of that before, that video is quite something! 😅

Bethany, Amy, Cara, Abigail, Alice and Susanna were all on our girls name list (we had 2 boys so didn't use any of them). We have similar taste!

The only one I've gone off a bit is Alice because it got really overused a couple of years ago.

NamingNoNames · 13/05/2026 13:41

Some of them look very ordinary and some sound a lot better than others.
I don't like Beth, Hope or Faith with the surname. Ree is awful (I can't remember how the one I know spells it).

Williams is an easy surname but it is common.
If you pick a popular name, don't pick a common middle name too.

I think you need a strong first name. Leah/Leona Williams is too vowelly IMO.
I really don't like some of the names but I've posted my opinion upthread.

Alice hasn't recently become very popular but it might be in your area.
Most of the names will have been very popular a few decades ago.

It really is isn't it!

At the same time as being deeply disturbing, there is a peculiar innocence about it. Maybe that is just total tone deafness!😂

NamingNoNames · 13/05/2026 15:11

I think the ones that sounds the best is Susanna Williams and Susie is cute.
Lucy Williams is brilliant but it won't be a one-off.

I like all of them LOL! Faves would be... Amy, Bethany, and Holly, (I am a fan of 2 syllable names, for children, and pets! Grin My DH has a one syllable name and it really stresses me out. 😂 Joking, sort of! Fortunately, I don't have to call him by his name often luckily. 😆

The name 'Lucy Williams' may be a bit more unusual for the little girl's age group though. Smile

My 2 have first names that were very popular around 1989-1992 but they weren't they born til mid-late 1990s, so even though their names are not unusual, they were the only ones in their school (primary and secondary,) and also college -and University with their first name. Most people they know with their name are about 5 or 6 years older.

She won't be a little girl all her life. The name is completely unremarkable. There are probably dozens of them.

Lins77 · 13/05/2026 16:24

Most things go with Williams, so you're lucky there. As has been said though, it's a common surname, so might be good to go for a more unusual (but not outlandish) first name.

My great aunt (who died aged 100) was called Alice Williams 😄

ChocolateCinderToffee · 13/05/2026 20:23

Rosanna like
Amy overused
Bethany overused
Cara OK but Clara is better
Christina like
Abigail invariably shortened to Abby or Gail, do you want that?
Faith, Hope NO my middle name is a virtue name and it's been a trial
Joanna like
Holly overused
Rhiannon
Tessa no, it's short for Teresa, very dated
Leona like
Alice like
Leah ok but overused
Mariah would not spell it like that but Maria is ok
