Anna nn Annie

Anna. But I dont get the obsession with nicknames. Just give them the name you want to call them :-)

Totally agree
Elizabeth and Anna are such lovely names. Why spoil them with diminutives

Bbq1 · 07/05/2026 07:45

Neither. Anna and Annie are over used. Prefer Anne.

MovedlikeHarlowinMonteCarlo · 07/05/2026 07:46

Anna or Annie.

I really hate the name Elizabeth.

WydeStrype · 07/05/2026 07:47

Anna

This.
Anna 'nn' Annie seems pointless. Use one or the other.

Lizzie is the usual spelling and it's fine but she'll probably be Liz.
I don't like Libby.

PygmyOwl · 07/05/2026 09:48

I love both of these. Would probably choose Elizabeth (Libby).

Mumofgirls2017 · 07/05/2026 09:54

Marginally prefer Anna but both fine

Fifthtimelucky · 07/05/2026 10:33

I like both and would go for Elizabeth and have Anna (or Anne) as a middle name.

LoudPlumDog · 07/05/2026 13:06

Anna

GingerLeopard · 07/05/2026 13:09

I prefer Annie, just called Annie if you aren't going to use the name Anna.

Calliopespa · 07/05/2026 13:17

I don't think Anna needs a diminutive.

Both names are nice.

I prefer Elizabeth, but I think Liz is the least pretty of the diminutives. Almost any of the others are so much prettier: Betsy, Betty, Libby, Lisa, Eliza, Elisa, Beth.

Not so fond of Liza, but still prefer it to Liz. I'm really not fond of Liz/Lizzy. Sounds like a Lizard.🐊

SilkSilk · 07/05/2026 13:18

Anna. Or, if you want to address her as Annie on a day to day basis, call her Annie.

Pemba · 07/05/2026 13:25

Anna Elizabeth - classic and lovely. Then you can call her Annie everyday and she can use Anna in different situations if she wants to when she's a bit older.

I still like Elizabeth and I think it'll always be popular, but I prefer the simplicity of Anna, it's fresh and feminine, a well known name in many countries. Also very easy for a child to learn to write!

Iocanepowder · 07/05/2026 13:34

Agree if you want Annie, just name her Annie. I think Anna and Annie are 2 separate names on their own

ToadRage · 07/05/2026 13:35

Anna, but it doesn't need a nickname.

Scrumbless · 07/05/2026 14:16

Anna but I don’t see the point of calling her Annie.

CosmosandLillies · 07/05/2026 14:37

I really love Libby on it's own, not so fond of Elizabeth but might be worth having the longer name for if and when she needs telling off?!

ginasevern · 07/05/2026 17:09

I prefer Elizabeth. It's less overused then Anna. But actually I think Anna Elizabeth works incredibly well together. So you get the best of both worlds!

Anna isn't overused and is much less popular than Elizabeth.

Elizabeth hasn't been out of the top 100 at all.

Anna seems a lot more popular than it is.

Tulipsriver · 07/05/2026 17:34

Both are lovely but I'd choose Elizabeth/Libby.

PatsFishTank · 07/05/2026 17:36

Elizabeth, it's my favourite girls name but I also really like Anna which doesn't need shortening.

7238SM · 07/05/2026 17:36

Elizabeth has far more options if you must use nicknames and I prefer it to Anne/Annie.

JustGiveMeReason · 07/05/2026 18:01

Elizabeth.

There have been lots of Annas over the last 5 years or so, and fewer Elizabeths.

I also happen to think it is a nicer name, but obviously that is just personal taste.
