Thoughts on Carrie?

Thoughts and impression of Carrie? It doesn't bother me that it's a bit outdated (as I'm not keen on the more modern popular names) but wonder if there is anything else that I'm missing.

I like it.

TheToteBagLady · 28/04/2026 19:44

I love it, and I usually don’t like shortened names

PLUG IT UP

Ha - I was thinking this as well.

I like the name though. I don’t like Caroline but I like Carolina. Sounds much nicer.

PurpleFlower1983 · 28/04/2026 20:06

I would think of SATC before Stephen King. It’s a nice name. I dislike Caroline though so wouldn’t go with that.

Greenfinch7 · 28/04/2026 20:13

If you don't like Caroline and Carolyn, how about:

Carol
Carina
Catrina

Carrie is a nickname- it's nice but seems insubstantial as a full name.

SpringAndSunshineIsHere · 28/04/2026 20:13

No. That’s my thought. It’s not the 70’s.

Gillyyy · 28/04/2026 20:36

I like it! I think it’s a lovely name and doesn’t need to have a longer name.

It reminds me of Carrie Bradshaw, Carrie Johnson, Carries war? And in the Caroline flack documentary her mum calls her Carrie. None of these would be a problem for choosing the name in my opinion!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 28/04/2026 20:43

I think the materialistic nightmare in SATC has tainted that name.

Also, it’s a nickname. And a word which generally isn’t positive - having to carry something is generally a burden.

Heidi2018 · 28/04/2026 20:57

I really like it. I also like Cara!

PygmyOwl · 28/04/2026 20:59

Love Carrie.

NewShoes · 28/04/2026 20:59

Lovely as a nickname for Caroline. Not on its own.

40andnotsofabulous · 28/04/2026 21:00

Sister was called this-so I may be biased but I think it’s beautiful name. Christened Carolyn, Carrie for short

luckylavender · 28/04/2026 21:01

Carrie Johnson

Amiacoolorwarmcolour · 28/04/2026 21:01

Love it.

Lovingapeacefulgarden · 28/04/2026 21:02

I really like the name Carrie.

Crikeyomalley · 28/04/2026 21:09

I'd go for Carolyn or Carolina ( both lovely names) - more grown up for an adult female in the workplace and use Carrie as a nickname

Heidi2018 · 28/04/2026 21:11

more grown up for an adult female in the workplace

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 the only Carrie I know is a very successful business woman, has done her no harm so far!

BrightLightTonight · 28/04/2026 21:14

Pig blood

Thetreeisdownnow · 28/04/2026 21:14

I know a Carrie who is actually a Carina if that is a longer name you’d like more than Caroline.

NeonK · 28/04/2026 21:14

I have a close relative called Carrie. Not a shortening of Caroline or anything else.
She jokes about the Stephen King link as a way to make herself memorable! (Have heard her introduce herself “my name’s Carrie - like the horror movie!”) But I don’t think other people generally make that connection.
Loves her name as far as I know.

Thewaterboy · 28/04/2026 21:24

Bradshaw or blood springs to my mind

user1492757084 · Yesterday 05:32

Carrie is lovely, as are Carina and Caroline.

I also loved the book Caddie by Catherine Edmonds.
Both Carrie and Caddie seem plausible first names to me.

VashtaNerada · Yesterday 05:57

My mind went to Stephen King immediately. I love Carrie Fisher but sadly that name is not a lucky one due to the Stephen King reference!

I really like the name Carrie.

I also know one who is under 10. I would never have assumed it wss short for anything. Its not common either which I quite like.

Purplecatshopaholic · Yesterday 14:23

Carrie is lovely. Bonkers to call a child a name you don’t actually to tend to use (Caroline in this case). Never understood that. If you like Carrie, go with it.
