DH has chosen Reijko (Ry-co) for a boy. we don't know the sex yet.

My choice for a girl is Scarlett.

Honest opions please, be as blunt as you like.....

I am so glad I am not the only one who thinks it is ridiculous. I printed off the thread and put it in his gym bag this morning so I will have to wait til I get home from work later to know his reaction!!!!

i had a similar problem, in that I had picked name if baby was as girl and Dh was picking for a boy. He wanted Sumner! Imo, it is def a surname, and fortunately we had a dd, ( i was so worried going in for the scan!!!)

And the only girls names he could come up with were variants on ex-girlfriends' names. ...Men... they are very odd creatures

Scarlett is lovely, tho

I don't like the name Reijko - sorry. Just not for me.

I quite like the name Scarlett, but I don;t think it is one I could use.

-ko is a female name ending in Japanese (seriously, like, 90% of women's names end in it), so it sounds like a Japanese girls name. Would that help put him off it?

Poncetastic!

I can only agree that it sounds like an industrial product or a weird martial art. If you want something nordic, how about Sven?

hayley2u · 26/06/2008 08:58

scarlett , dont really like the ry co sounds like some cereal

As he's not Scandinavian and it doesn't fit with your other DCs names, tell DH that everyone'll assume he's not the father. That should shut him up!

lastboxoftampons · 26/06/2008 13:59

So you think she shouldn't go for it if it's made up, but you wouldn't know yourself if it was...

I think you and your DH need to agree on a name. I personally don't like the way it sounds - agree with someone saying it sounds a bit like a company's name - but if you do, then go for it.

I saw that TV programme, Reijko made me go weak at the knees....

I used to have a Japanese (girl) friend called Reiko (pronounced Ray-ko).
