Looking for positive views on our baby name choices Damien and Lilith

We've decided on Damien if it's a boy and Lilith if it's a girl. Both sides have been so negative about these choices so just looking for a little positivity.

I hate to pour on even more doubt, but I really must for the children's sake. Have you fully explored how popular these particular names have become? Will your child be happy being Lilith B. or Lilith C., or "Big Damien" or "Speccy Damien"? My Damien and Lilith are in their teens now and have been going by their middle names for years - Kallikantzeros and Tlahuelpuchi. (Lovely names, but it's still an adjustment!!) Little Krampus has been very lucky so far to be the only one in their class, but I fear it's only a matter of time.

Um these names are a hard no from me.

MaggieBsBoat · Yesterday 15:52

I like them!

B- OP.

A few people fell for it, so not a bad effort.

Yes you are the edge lord of mothers . Well done .

Nope, nope and nope. No positivity for these names from me.

We are Luciferian. Does that matter? Would you have a problem with a Muslim calling their son Mohammed? Or a Christian calling their daughter Mary?

Erm....
Not sure that comparison works...
“Damien” is a fictional character from a 1970s horror film 🫠

RhododendronFlowers · Yesterday 15:57

I think Damien is quite dated, but I really like Lilith because I'm a Frasier fan.

Redflagsabounded · Yesterday 15:44

Ha, even as Luciferians there's no reason to choose Damien - a random boy's name chosen for a novel/film that has no connection whatsoever to Luciferian beliefs.

Oh I know, I've just like the name since I was 10 and been talking about it since I was 10. Not sure why everyone in the family seems to be surprised by this tbh. It's not like you get people having a meltdown over the Adrian or Adam. Apparently a meh movie from the 70's left such an imprint.

Lilith makes me think of you the TV comedy Frasier.....

RoseField1 · Yesterday 15:59

I quite like Lilith TBH. Damien no. Reminds me of Rodney Trotter.

Littlelisasimpson · Yesterday 16:16

I did teach a teenage girl called Lilith. I doubt her mum was very well read though.

Ignore the family, surely it's what you and your partner want?

I'm sure either one would be a little angel OP 😃

Oh yeah we aren't changing our minds. If they're going to be AH then it does give me rise to wonder whether it's productive to have that negativity around. You'd think family would at least have support you in something.

I'd assume you dye your hair black and have pet reptiles, with a child called either of those.

Pasta4Dinner · Yesterday 16:42

I went to school with several Damien’s, they all hated their name. I wouldn’t use Lilith anymore, it’s popular with a certain community now.

I'm curious, which community?

I actually really like the name Lilith. I know it has "dark" associations but she did refuse to submit to Adam and demanded equality. Some posters are saying it's old fashioned but I've never met anyone called it. Plenty of Lilians though. Don't like Damian, regardless of any connotations.

Well, you're the parents. Your choice. I'm not a fan of Damien, but it's certainly not the worst name I've heard. Quite popular when I was growing up.

Dunno why my comment was delete, but I still think it’s silly to name your kids after something and trying to make your beliefs obvious through a name. Just pick nice names that the kids will be happy with, not that forces your personality.
