I don’t think I’ve ever known a Brenda or a Pamela who are under 60 now.

Bridie is Gladys, Brenda, Doreen, Edna etc. Ditto Breda, for which it’s often a nickname.

Good Lord, really? Those are horrible old lady names.

Louise is the number one girls name in France. Plenty of girls still getting it as a middle name in honour of their mums and aunts having it as their middle name.

There's not been a resurgence in Edwina has there?

I like Louise and it is my middle name - I 'm a Claire Louise, which seems to be a popular combination for people of my age - I am not named after anyone French as far as I'm aware.

They are definitely ‘ugly chic’ names.
