I had a great (or maybe great great) aunt named Modesta. She went by Desta. Never seen or heard of it anywhere else.

I have a 3 year old Joan.

Loads of Aggies (Agnes).
Why on earth do posters think these names won't come back into fashion?

Anything that takes a man's name and sticks 'ina' on the end to make it a girl's name eg

I met a child called Gertrude about 10 years ago. She must be 12ish now. Her older brother was called Wilfred…. 🤯

I also know a baby "Ursula" - just no..... lol

Jesse was on my list if I had a boy. I wondered if Jesse Pinkman would bring the name back for younger people but I’ve not heard of any yet!

My daughter is Dulcie and I absolutely love it!

Oh and Zillah, I've not known one since an elderly lady who passed away in her 80s in 1970.

I love Agnes, Winifred, Ingrid, Queenie, Wendy, Bonnie and Sally.
I think Bertha, Kayleigh, Christine and Carol won't be popular again.

I quite like Marjorie. Can't see Doris or Beryl coming back. Would have said Maude but I know 2 under 5

I think Britney, as in Spears might prove to be a one generation name but possibly not spelled Brittany as in Murphy or the place.

Chastity as one of the Puritan virtue names like Hope, Grace or Constance probably won't ever be extremely popular again. The last Chastity I heard of was Cher's child and, er, they're not called Chastity any more.

Maybe if you're Amish.

DS has a friend called Sylvia.

I was born 1960 and a Susan. So many of us at school. I do not know any Susan's under 60.

30 years ago it would have seemed laughable that some of the Top 100 names today would have ever come back - Ruby and Olive were two old grandmas, chainsmoking in the pub, Margot was the snobby character on The Good Life, while Ivy, Ada, Mabel were creepy old ladies in nursing homes!
.... so my guess is that most of the names in this thread will have a resurgence at some point. We're just not quite there yet.

Amazed to see love for Marjorie, which I've never much liked, but Margery is much worse.

People saying Katherine/Catherine might come back- surely it's never gone away? Admittedly baby girls destined to be known as Kate, Katy or Katie are nowadays often given that name on their birth certificates.
