Wyatt or West? I like both, husband hates both. What does everyone else think?

they're both positively awful.

LadyMuck · 18/06/2008 17:47

They're surnames.

expatinscotland · 18/06/2008 17:49

or a compass point.

muminCT · 18/06/2008 17:49

Wasn't Wyatt a cowboy or something? That's what my mum said.

i think someone has access to my family tree

we have graham gordon trevor and now wyatt

and gertrude on another thread

meemar · 18/06/2008 17:50

Don't like either I'm afraid.

zippitippitoes · 18/06/2008 17:51

wyatt earp is from the wild west

Heated · 18/06/2008 17:52

I'm with your hb on this one.

dizzydixies · 18/06/2008 17:53

am not as adverse at the others but think Wyatt is a very American name to give as a first name and believe West would be really cool as a mn but not so much as a first name

Bucharest · 18/06/2008 17:54

Surnames. Wyatt slightly less bizarre as a choice than West. But still not good.

muminCT · 18/06/2008 18:24

My husband is American and my first two were born in Hawaii and this one will be born in the States too.

I think Wyatt is kinda neat, West I suppose is a bit crazy.

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 18/06/2008 18:26

No, it's not 'kinda neat'. It's naff.

BandofMothers · 18/06/2008 18:27

I got used to the name Wyatt after watching Charmed and quite like it. DD1 actually has a friend called Wyatt. Does it go with your surname???

BandofMothers · 18/06/2008 18:28

BTW can tell you've been living in the states, "kinda neat"

Scuff · 18/06/2008 18:28

Your DH speaks sense.

Chocolateteapot · 18/06/2008 18:29

I have friends with these names as surnames and am definitely with your husband on this.

muminCT · 18/06/2008 18:29

Wyatt DeLoretta what do you think?

Oh I forget Pipers son on charmed was called that too. Thanks for the reminder

OP posts:
BandofMothers · 18/06/2008 18:32

That doesn't go too badly does it. I named dd1 Piper and EVERYONE asked "Did you get that from Charmed??????
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO I didn't, but oh well

Now you have to convince your DH. We didn't name dd2 til 2 days before she was born and she was 2 weeks late cos we just couldn't decide.

muminCT · 18/06/2008 18:34

This time round it much harder I'm due in 10 weeks, if I make it that far. My 1st was born at 35 and 2nd at 37. Time is going too fast!

I like Piper too!

TwoFir · 18/06/2008 18:35

I prefer West, just read an excellent book by Joe Abercrombie with a West in it, twas a surname tho...

expatinscotland · 18/06/2008 18:36

FGS, mum, that place has really rubbed off on you. And not in a good way .

As an American immigrant to the UK - I'm a dual national now, married to a Scotsman - take it from me: about 90% of the utter tripe excuses Americans call forenames are beyond silly.

allgonebellyup · 18/06/2008 18:37

hmmm

pretty revolting imo

sorry, you did ask

Both very ugly names. West is especially ridiculous

muminCT · 18/06/2008 18:48

My hubby is going to be so happy knowing so many agree with him.
