Are these names awful? Do you like any of them and if so, which?

The only Roscoe I've ever known was a sweet but unfortunate looking little dog with one eye.
Not a fan of Rocco either

bugalugs45 · 02/02/2026 12:58

I know 2 dogs that are called roscoe so for that reason alone I’d have to choose rocco although not keen on either

fashionqueen0123 · 02/02/2026 13:00

Rocco is fine
Roscoe sounds like a finance company

SleafordSods · 04/02/2026 04:17

Roscoe and I’m old enough to have watched Dukes of Hazard but wouldn’t have made the connection.

Sparklinggreen · 04/02/2026 08:22

Don’t like either

does it have to start with an R?

midlifeattheoasis · 04/02/2026 18:45

Both awful. As others have said, they sound like either dogs names or remind me of Dukes of Hazard

Rockyhorrors · 16/02/2026 13:56

They are dreadful.

AgentPidge · 16/02/2026 14:02

I prefer Rosco (no e) but am not keen on either. Go for Ross (Poldark!) as it's an actual name.

My son is called Rocco (named after his grandfather), but we have an Italian surname with it so it works. I think Rocco with a bog standard English surname would sound odd. I think any very “foreign” name with an English surname is a bit peculiar/try hard tbh. Or maybe you have an Italian surname, OP, in which case ignore me.

Most normal English names are "foreign". Chloe, Richard, Hannah, Ann, Imogen, Michael - they're either biblical or are otherwise imported from foreign languages. The ones that aren't, started out as surnames (Martin, Douglas, Keith , Kelly) and lots of those are foreign too!

wishingonastar101 · 16/02/2026 14:21

Roscoe is a dogs name.

Sazzles169 · 24/02/2026 11:56

sorry but these are both dog names to me

shiningcuckoo · 24/02/2026 12:02

My friend has a son called Rocco. He’s a very sweet, thoughtful teenager. It suits him. His mum calls him Rock Star as his nickname.
