Could Kit be short for anything other than Christopher?

This is just musings, not for a real baby.

I quite like the nickname Kit but I really don’t like Christopher.

Is there any other name anyone can think of that it could reasonably be short for?
How do people feel about Kit as a full name?

Again, this is just for a potential future son. I am not pregnant with a boy currently.

Kit just makes me think of smelly sports kit at school (as in the bag full of BO clothes lumbered home every end of week)

I really like the name Kit but we have a friend with that name and I've noticed lots of people don't say it correctly (drop the T). I don't even know what's it's short for so I suppose you could just use the name by itself?

I love the name Kit on its own

My son is just Kit. It is a name in its own right these days.

I have a friend whose son’s name is Kit. Not as a nickname, it’s his actual name.

My son is called Kit. No one has ever asked me if it’s short for anything.

I would use it as a stand alone name. I too like Kit, but not Christopher, the shortened form is almost always Chris and I really don't like that.
I had an aunt name Katherine, she went by Kitty when younger, and Kit the rest of her life, just in case you have a girl someday OP.

Kit looks like a nickname for Kitty or Kitten

Chris looks like a nickname for Christopher

DD goes to nursery with a Kitto, the Cornish form of Christopher.

Not read the thread, but Kitto is a male Cornish name
