Ophelia Audrey
Ophelia Eloise
Ophelia Ottilie (I like the double OO, it’s unusual!)
Ophelia Sophie
Ophelia Evangeline

How many syllables is your surname? Some of these are pretty unwieldy already 😬

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 30/11/2025 20:59

I think Rose would be lovely

Sunflowers1999 · 30/11/2025 21:01

Two syllable surname!

I think with a four syllable first name, you really need a one or two syllable middle name to be honest. Some of your suggestions are lovely but quite long.

BobblyBobbleHat · 30/11/2025 21:01

I agree that perhaps something shorter may flow better. There's several Ophelias at dd's school, I think one of them has Rose as a middle name and another has Eve, which is very pretty. Not sure on the others.

Sunflowers1999 · 30/11/2025 21:02

Siblings name is 6 syllables

I don't think any of your names go.

You may not be bothered about that so I'll say I think Evangeline is the nicest middle name option.

Ophelia Eloise sounds awful so please don't pick that one.

Sillysoggyspaniel · 30/11/2025 21:05

Agree that Eloise absolutely does not flow. And I'd also be leaning towards a single syllable name as your surname isn't. Rose is used a lot, but does work.

MayaPinion · 30/11/2025 21:05

Ophelia Joy

Littlepea26 · 30/11/2025 21:15

@IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour i agree, sounds lovely together

My first thought too. Or Maud, maybe?

LivingTheDreamish · 30/11/2025 21:37

I voted Ophelia Sophie which is pretty, but if you like OO how about Ophelia Olive? Or Opal? Ottilie is a bit of a tongue twister.

MaybeItWasMe · 30/11/2025 21:41

Have you read Hamlet?

ElsieJay · 30/11/2025 21:43

One syllable works best I think.
Rose, Grace ,Fay or Faith, May, etc.

I agree, can’t get away from this association either. Same with Cordelia!

Jamclag · 30/11/2025 21:50

I love Ophelia (despite the usual literary objections, blah, blah).
Sorry, not keen on Audrey - just seems such a 'grey' name to my ears.
I voted for Sophie - the others are lovely but too many syllables.
As an alternative Jane works well - short but elegant.

crumpet · 30/11/2025 21:50

A one syllable middle name would work best. And not one beginning with a vowel.

Jane
Rose
Belle
Kate
Claire
Beth
June
Hope
Skye

Applesinapie · 30/11/2025 21:53

I would choose one without a vowel. Ophelia is a very popular name so I wouldn’t choose a popular middle name too. Out of all yours I’d say Sophie but if you wanted suggestions I would say something like

Maeve, Belle, June, Pearl, Nel

SwirlyShirly · 30/11/2025 21:57

They are all very long is my only thought. Ophelia Eloise is pretty but a bit of a mouthful, Ophelia ottilie sounds like you couldn’t decide between the two. I think I’d pick Sophie. I think Ophelia is such a distinctive name you could easily get away with a shorter more simple name as a second name, if you needed one at all.

CallTheRozzers · 30/11/2025 21:59

Ophelia Pearl is lovely and seems as though it may he to your taste?

BatsInHibernation · 30/11/2025 22:01

It doesn't really matter if it's long and multi syllables imo. My daughter's name is 4 syllables first name, 4 syllables middle, and 1 syllable 2nd middle! Having said that, it has good flow and I don't think your choices do have food flow.
My first thought was Jane!
A single one syllable would be lovely
Jane, Joy, June...
But I love a double middle.
If it were up to me I would be considering along these lines
Ophelia Catherine Jane
Ophelia Tabitha June
Ophelia Romilly Grace
Ophelia Helena Pearl
Ophelia Cecily Anne
Ophelia Mariam Eve

Or various combinations of these. The 4, 3, 1 is good flow with a hard consonant after Ophelia.

My name is 3 syllables first name and 4 syllables middle name and it works.

mary, Jane, Rose, Purl, May, June, Grace Dawn

I really really wouldn't call her Ophelia Belle lol.

Ophelia Audrey
Ophelia Eloise

Ophelia Sophie
Ophelia Evangeline

Ophelia Ottilie sounds like "I feel ya utterly" which is too close for comfort to "udderly," given the classic joke about Ophelia is "I feel ya tits up."

I did have Ophelia on my long list each pregnancy but it never made it to short list. I do agree there is a certain romance to the name, but it is a name that needs careful handling (oops ... here we go again!).

I think when you have such a distinctive, slightly flowery first name, you set it off better with a simple, classic middle name such as Ophelia Jane. Doesn't need to be Jane, but I think one syllable, unremarkable, something to "calm it down" a bit.
