I suggest Grace, Anna, Lydia, he suggests Yvette... I'm thinking the problem is bigger than babynaming....have you had any suggestions from DH/DP that made you choke on your cereal?

fortunately this was idle chatter about a not-yet conceived child, so we have time to work on it....

God, what is it with men and names???
DH suggestions were Talon - sounds more like a gladiator or a pitbull name to me, Thor (again), and Cervarsius (not even sure how you spell this one).

Hi is Aussie though, and I think they seem to be a mit more 'creative' with names.

Everything I suggested, he knew a dog called that when he was growing up .

We argued sooo much about names that in the end we just had to stop talking about it. When I gave birth, DH rightly came to his senses and realised that I should have the right to choose the name .

Grace, Anna, Lydia - your names. I love all of these. Yvette sounds very dated to me. I knew one at school and I knew an Yvonne too. I think it was the height of chic way back in 1971. But, perhaps it could be seen as a nod to Yves Saint Laurent??

Personally, I prefer Evelyn. Evelyn Grace sounds good.. I love Lydia SO much, but it would be too repetitive after Evelyn.

Yvette Lydia Grace sounds good though.

It would take me a while to get behind Yvette, but it has got a certain je ne sais quoi, mummy and daddy do not follow the herd about it which I really like. It's different without trying too hard.

Hey pp, you ever seen that clip 'chasers' two aussie guys going around giving out fines to children with bogan names. It's hilarious. I'll dig it out for you, make him watch it and then maybe he will stay on the classic side of bogan iykwim.

greenelizabeth · 19/06/2008 14:43

Salbow, here you are, it's called the chasers war on bogan names.

enjoy!!

dh wanted to call our ds Zeecko. i was not impressed. in the end we settled on Noah.

SalBow · 19/06/2008 15:10

Haha, thanks that is hilarious!
One of my pet hates is surnames as first names! This was one of the (many) "discussions" Dh and I had.
I can't wait to show that to him tonight.

DH's Aussie best friends went with Piper for their little girl (is there a cringe emoticon?)

I'm hesitant about sharing this with you, but I liked Billy and dh said we couldn't call him that cos "he knew a retarded boy called Billy when he was growing up" (nice).

Bugger, I hope they don't go on mn and see that

Piper, now that's a name that just makes me think of potato. Maris Piper. Wouldn't be my choice

What do you DO with it when you're 25 and stuck with a dated name. Sort of like Tiffany but not even pretty!!!
