I suggest Grace, Anna, Lydia, he suggests Yvette... I'm thinking the problem is bigger than babynaming....have you had any suggestions from DH/DP that made you choke on your cereal?

fortunately this was idle chatter about a not-yet conceived child, so we have time to work on it....

I know somebody who is named after an ex-girlfriend of her father's.

Unbelievable really.

Sanguine · 11/06/2008 12:05

DH is into icelandic sagas, and was well up for Gudrun for a girl!! I vetoed that one, he vetoed my favourite boys name, Ashley. It all gets sorted in the end.

ObsidianBlackbirdMcNight · 13/06/2008 14:18

Osama!

Seriously, he's muslim, didn't see the prob...

cece · 13/06/2008 14:21

When I was pg with the second child (turned out to be a oy so he had a lucky escape. DH wanted Ethan and I wanted Sidney. I don't think you can be much further apart than that! We settled on a third option. In act the only name we agreed on!

mollysawally · 13/06/2008 23:01

OMG kat!

Quattrocento · 13/06/2008 23:03

See I believe in the mum's right to name ... you're letting your dh have far too much input on this issue

evenhope · 14/06/2008 12:56

DH vetoed all my names. His suggestions were Roger and Daisy. Roger?!!

Bronze · 14/06/2008 13:04

Himselfs favourite name does happen to be his exgirlfriends name. Luckily he could understand why I refused.

Lazycow · 14/06/2008 13:27

dh suggested Judas and he wasn't even joking either

halogen · 14/06/2008 18:34

Haha at Roger!

moodlumthehoodlum · 14/06/2008 18:34

DH really wanted Austin for ds.

LaDiDaDi · 14/06/2008 20:56

When I was pregnant and we were looking for a name for dd I liked Isobel, Anya, Matilda and Aurelia.

The only two girls names in our baby name book that dp underlined to indicate that he liked them were Demi and Blair .

Dd is not called Demi or Blair.

Cecy · 14/06/2008 21:46

Dh suggested Hayley for a girl, needless to say I vetoed it.

MONKEYMONKEY · 14/06/2008 22:01

If you veoted how about Raine? or sawyer

Aero · 14/06/2008 22:02

Dh suggested Dennis and Trevor (no lie) as boys names when ds1 (10) was on the way!!!!! OMG - I sooooooooooo got to choose names in this house. I would have thought it funny if he wasn't serious.shock He's a huge cricket fan and these are the names of well known cricketers (allegedly). Needless to say I suggested all acceptable names and he just agreed to the ones he didn't hate. The dcs all have lovely names (imho of course).

vesela · 17/06/2008 12:22

Ghislaine.

fryalot · 17/06/2008 12:25

dp suggested that as ds was due around about the 200th anniversary of the battle of trafalgar (or waterloo, I forget ) he wanted to call him Horatio after Horatio Nelson.

I said no.

EachPeachPearMum · 17/06/2008 12:52

We had absolutely no boys names first time round- thankfully was dd, BUT Dh's suggestion was 'Gallant'

Thats not even a name!

hubarbspong · 17/06/2008 14:45

Really wanted to call bump Thor (Scandinavian heritage & surname) but DW vetoed it, fortunately we seem to be having a girl.

milfAKAmonkeymonkeymoomoo · 17/06/2008 14:47

Meredith

geordieminx · 17/06/2008 15:45

Dp suggestion Kenny, Stevie, Rafa and Kevin....He is a liverpool supporter... but still he likes "normal" names.. suggested names like Paula, Helen and Lynsey forgirls... all fine names but very 80's. They all remind me of people I went to school with.

We only had 1 name out of a whole book full that we agreed on.... we now have ds... Charlie.

nooka · 17/06/2008 15:59

Dh was well into Greek classics and wanted Hector and Cassandra when we were first dating. Then when we were sure we didn't want children we called them Oedipus and Jocasta (still with the Greek theme). When it came to it we both struggled to find names we really liked, but it wasn't because we disagreed. When I was little I wanted to have 11 children, and the youngest was going to be Zachariah!

We've generally confined mad names to pets (the next two cats will be Amos and Mr Wilkes )
