Eleni (but Greek?)
Therese

staranise · 29/05/2008 21:30

Yup, first DD is Ines, second DD is Edith, often called Edie.

Only person I know with a child called Margot (which I love! V urban chic too, and pretty) was at college with me and is married to a French guy and lives in E London, I think, though I haven't seen her for years. She does have two children though

treacletart · 29/05/2008 21:35

Paloma, Clara.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:37

I'm not her! Not married to a French guy!

We don't know eachother in RL. That would have been a disaster

Well, you're pregnant, you have an excuse. I should be doing something constructive so I hope nobody I really do know catches me here.

georgiemama · 29/05/2008 21:37

Yeah, but I'm meant to be working... Normally ban MN when I'm working but it's been a long day...

Will consider Margot for a girl. Boy might already be a variation on Richard.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:40

Consuela! euwww. Sounds like a poor guatemaltecan peasant woman.

But very Spanish!

Actaully my inspiration is coming from the wife of the 9th Duke of Marlborough, so couldn't be less peasant woman.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:47

I prefer Marlborough! After the patron saint of Spain. Santo 20 Marlborough Lights.

Tutter · 29/05/2008 21:49

has anyone said clara?

i love clara

if i'd had a girl that owuld be the name i'd have chosen

staranise · 29/05/2008 21:49

My husband wants the Cornish variation but I don't want two children with obscure names that I have to explain/spell out.

I like Consuela/Connie. But then I also like Purificacion/Puri and I love Adoracion or Dori/Dora

Richie definitely cooler than Archie and family connection always good

WinkyWinkola · 29/05/2008 21:52

Isadora?

I love that name but my niece's name is Isabel so too close for me to use.

evenhope · 29/05/2008 21:55

Elena

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:56

Blimey Purificación sounds like a bottled mineral water! I am not drawn to anything too ecclesiastical. Anunción for example, quite pretty but I can't get past the catholikkyness of it.

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 21:57

Sorry that was very rude of me.

staranise · 29/05/2008 21:59

Yeah, i think even in Spain it's considered a little fanatical. Though Belen is very popular and it means Bethlehem. I like it but DH said it's too like 'Bell-end'. Charming.

Love Clara (though it also means 'shandy') and Isadora/Dora/Theodora

staranise · 29/05/2008 22:01

Not rude, i think a lot of Spanish people would agree! They're pretty names though, esp. with Spanis accent.

I like Dolores as well (Dolly/Lola/Lolly for short) but it means sorrow, which seems a bit cruel to give to a baby.

SraCellophane · 29/05/2008 22:01

Isadora - can't help but sing the "Wizadora" theme tune. See, showing my age

GreenElizabeth · 29/05/2008 22:02

Belen is lovely. I guess that's no more religious than using Bethany. I know Bethany is not a form of Bethlehem but it's a place in Israel.

Does Clara mean Shandy?! Never knew that.
What is the Cornish form of Richard? Intrigued....

staranise · 29/05/2008 22:08

Rickeard - pronounced Rick-ard

I quite like it and it's not that unusual in Cornwall plus is a family name for DH. But I am adamant I don't want to keep explaining two of my DSs' names.

Will probably be a third DD anyway

bluenosesaint · 29/05/2008 22:11
