Unusual consecutive letter suggestions?

Hello
I’m expecting my second child in December. My husband and I would like a name which has an unusual combination of consecutive letters in it. Like Django. We don’t know the sex of the baby so need a girl and boy name. Surname is very plain and starts with a B and middle name will be Marianne or Marcus. I saw a truck with Dhollandia on the back earlier so that sort of thing but a name for a child obviously, not a truck. Can anyone suggest one? TIA

Maybe look at Welsh, Irish or Scottish names if you have any family connections to those places.

Or alternatively pick a name like Dave and see how many silent letters / alternate spellings you can shoehorn in...

Daeighvhe is a perfectly lovely name.

Come on, that's a tragedeigh?

But they don’t have to spell them out every time which is one less burden.

I have a relatively bog standard name. But there is one variation of the spelling of it. And I have to spell my name out every single time. But, you know, it's fine?

My siblings and I have some pretty odd names that used to be quite unique, and include odd letter combos. We have always liked our names, even if we don't always use them.

Rh and Ll are letters in Welsh. Prys and Floyd would fill the brief.

"Rh" is a digraph, not a letter, it's a pair of letters that represent a single sound.

I should know, my name starts with Rh...

Ll and rh are both digraphs and letters in Welsh, as are ch, dd, ff, ng, ph and th. They exist as their own letter in the Welsh alphabet, which is why, e.g., the word dod comes before the word ddoe alphabetically and cangen before calen, the name Fioled before Ffion and Lowri before Llinos. The only one that appears in Welsh words as both one letter and two consecutive single letters is ng which is actually a letter n followed by a letter g in rare words like dangos.

If the OP wanted a Welsh name with an unusual combination of Welsh letters, it would be a name starting with the letter R, as there are basically no names that do unless you go for Welsh-ish names like Robat or Rowena. There are, however, many Welsh names that begin with the letter Rh.

HugoYorway · 16/08/2025 10:42

Ng appears in lots of words: angor, dringo, gwingo, eang, cyngor, rhwng, mwng, cwnhingen, angen, dihangfa, ... , as well as in mutations of c and g

Ng is ng not 'n-g' or 'ng-g'. Dringo doesn't rhyme with bingo.
Bangor is Bang-gor though.

The only name I can think of is Robin. Rowena looks Welsh but probably is from Old English or something.

I know - I speak Welsh, I know the alphabet, my name starts with an Rh. But definitely a digraph.

This thread is a hoot.

But in all seriousness OP, I know an Elvijs which may fit your vibe. He pronounces it Elvy, he's a former pro goal keeper from Latvia so maybe other Latvian names would work for you. How about Ilza or Aija as girl options?
