Am pregnant with dd and love the name Arabella. DH does not (but he can always be worked on) and part of me feels its too posh? What do you think? Have given up discussing this with parents and in-laws because of too much negativity! (Don't mind negativity from complete cyber strangers!)
Already have 2 DSs, James and Max so I'm obviously getting more adventurous in my old age. Would probably shorten Arabella to Bella.

CantSleepWontSleep · 26/05/2008 21:01

cheesesarnie · 26/05/2008 21:04

littlelapin-i know an araminta and its a lovely name but shes always called minty which although is 'her' isnt so pretty!

MargaretMountford · 26/05/2008 21:04

I like it, is my cousin's wifes name- like it shortened to Bella too

janeite · 26/05/2008 21:04

I love it - and Bella is gorgeous.

onepieceoflollipop · 26/05/2008 21:04

I also think that if it is a name that is easily shortened e.g. in this case to Bella, your future dd can decide what to call herself is she is not keen on one or the other.

We gave our dd2 quite a "trendy" name but it is the shortened version of a more traditional name that she can revert to if her "everyday" name becomes dated.

LynetteScavo · 26/05/2008 21:05

I think Arabella goes brilliantly with James and Max. I really like it. (If Iremember correctly my DH wasn't keen, so we went for another name begining and ending in A).

hullygully · 26/05/2008 21:06

My dog's called Bella, but she is v beautiful. Don't forget all the stereotyping that goes with girls' names ending in "a."

Thomcat · 26/05/2008 21:06

i think it's lovely.
Was on my list
Love Bella and Bel too.

singyswife · 26/05/2008 21:07

I'm going to be akward, I dont like it. I think your children have lovely names and it just doesnt fit in. Sorry!!!!!!!

Anna8888 · 26/05/2008 21:08

Arabella is very pretty name, and also goes extremely well with James and Max.

The whole combo does sound slightly 1980s Sloane Ranger... that would be my only reservation.

What's the sterotyping thing with girls names that end in 'a'????????

singyswife · 26/05/2008 21:09

Agree with thomcat, what is the stereotype?

singyswife · 26/05/2008 21:09
