Rupert as a brother for Freya?

Hi!
Currently pregnant with baby 2, a boy. Our daughter is called Freya, middle name Rose. We've decided to call our son Rupert, middle name Michael.
Just wondering on people's thoughts on whether Rupert goes well with Freya as a sibling name or not? Already know our family are probably going to think Rupert is a bit of a strange name as it is usually old men with this name, or makes them think of the bear, but this is the name we love and have decided on so they will have to get used to it😁 (not sharing until he is born to avoid potential unnecessary/rude comments from them though)
I guess what I'm asking really is that if we met for the first time and I said "my kids are called/ oh and here are my kids, Freya and Rupert", would you think they sound weird together at all? Just curious as Rupert is so different to Freya.
Obviously I am not choosing names to make sure they match/are a set, none of my siblings names are similar style to mine/match mine, nor my partner's siblings or a lot of my family members, it's just names the parents liked. Just want to make sure it doesn't sound too silly when said together!
Thank you😀

Lovely names, congratulations on your pregnancy x

naomicrobiome · 30/06/2025 17:05

I like both names and think they sound lovely together.

Sandmaennchen · 30/06/2025 17:50

I’m not keen at all on Rupert, but thankfully we all have different tastes!

FawnDrench · 30/06/2025 19:19

I think it goes well.
Both are great names.

Norastroud · 30/06/2025 19:42

I think they go well together, both lovely names - congratulations!

Firsttimebabymummy · 30/06/2025 19:47

Goes great together! Congratulations

FWIW, they have a similar very English vibe for me, like they're hanging out in a Jilly Cooper novel with Kit, Jasper, Cressida, Hugh, Imogen, Jemima, and Simon. Freya, however, has become very popular in the past 20 years or so.

SouthLondonMum22 · 30/06/2025 20:12

I think they sound fine together.

I have a Rupert, it's a wonderful name.

BootballJoy · 30/06/2025 21:28

Both great names, work well together.

Arthurrat · 30/06/2025 21:32

It's fine. We have lots of little Rupert's around here so doesn't sound at all unusual to me. Freya is also quite popular so seems well matched.

greengreyblue · 30/06/2025 21:35

If you like it , go for it. It has nothing to do with your daughter’s name as they’re not a double act.

toastofthetown · 30/06/2025 21:58

They sound fine together. If you’re concerned about your family thinking its weird, you could always say that it’s in the top hundred so decently popular.

Mumofgirls2017 · 30/06/2025 22:31

It’s fine. I’ve heard a lot worse!

DuchessOfNarcissex · 01/07/2025 12:11

Does Rupert Surname sound OK?

BatsInSpring · 01/07/2025 17:18

It's lovely with Freya and it's just lovely in general. Fantastic name. Congrats!

OneYummyBiscuitLover · 01/07/2025 18:52

Thanks all, definitely feel a lot more confident for when it comes to telling people when he is born! I did think they sounded fine together but typical anxiety made me start doubting myself! Appreciate the comments😀

Will you calling him Roo? Rupert sounds so wet!

MinPinSins · 02/07/2025 11:26

I love both names. I think you've also got to to put into context that Freya is the 5th most popular girl's name at the moment - it's being used so widely by all sorts of people, so it's not very boxed in and goes with all sorts of names!

pharmer · 01/07/2025 19:07

Will you calling him Roo? Rupert sounds so wet!

No, we don't really like giving/using nicknames, and Ru/Roo isn't appealing to us. Part of the reason we chose Rupert is because it can't really be shortened besides that. What do you mean by it sounds wet sorry? I have never heard that before!

DuchessOfNarcissex · 02/07/2025 13:18

@OneYummyBiscuitLover , wet means weak or feeble, I think.
I don't think it sounds wet particularly. Ru and Roo are awful.

Sandmaennchen · 02/07/2025 13:34

I much prefer Robert!

boujeewooje · 02/07/2025 13:40

I’m not keen on Rupert, it sounds fine with Freya though
