Never ever had this name as a contender until a week ago.

Kind of irrelevant but strange back story to where I’ve got the name from:

My husband suggested it as we were on our way to the airport a week ago, and a singer on the radio was named Miles and I loved it.

The next day, I went to read a book I bought for my holiday - the main character was named Miles and his mother in the book has my name!

The day after, my husband saw a TikTok of a baby named Miles and the babies surname was my maiden name.

I feel like the universe is sending me a hard sign here that the baby wants to be called Miles 🤣

His name, since before I was even pregnant, was going to be Xander. But something is pulling me towards Miles now and I think I really love the name.
What do you all think of the name? Is it crazy to change his name when I’m 7 months pregnant, on a whim?

I really like it

Miles Alexander flows v well

Also there are billions of Alexs and Z/Xanders at the moment - Miles is popular but not crazy. If you do call him Zander I think it’s better as a nn

I prefer the Myles spelling, so as not to be a unit of measurement. I also seems less 'posh' somehow than Miles. Milo/Mylo is a sweet nickname.

Xander is cool , but I'd put Alexander on the BC.

Agree that Alex is overused - we know so many male and female Alexes!

Branleuse · 07/06/2025 15:06

I like it a lot.

I have a myles. I'm really not keen on the name to be honest. It was his fathers choice. It means solider. My little lad spent a few weeks in nicu and in end i thought well he is a little solider everything we went through in pregnancy and his rough start to life . Everyone who has met him compliments his name tho

It makes me think of marathon training. I have to admit I don't know if there is another meaning or where the name originates from.

Showing my age here but years ago there was a brilliant series called Dynasty. One of the characters was called Miles Colby. He was played by an actor called Maxwell Caulfield (who also started in Grease 2). He is always how I imagined a Miles to look. I have only met 1 IRL, he is in his early 20's and a very cool guy.

Edited

I know a 9 year old Miles, complete dote,
