These are our final two, not sure how I feel about ‘Aggie’ as a n/n & OH suspects Mina could be called ‘meanie’ I know which one I like more but would love to hear thoughts & other recommendations :)

Neither are to my taste tbh.. Nina?

FoxglovesAndLupins · 21/05/2025 19:22

Mina every time.

MrsKateColumbo · 21/05/2025 19:30

Mina is a bit boring.
I LOVE AGatha Christie, I don't like the sound of Agatha as much as the name DD became but if I did i would have gone for it. I think it's quite cool.

I know a few Aggies who are short for Agnieszka which is beautiful. So Aggie is relatively popular (although these are all 40+ years olds)

Tooearlytothink · 21/05/2025 20:55

I really like Mina

AnneMarieW · 21/05/2025 21:18

Mina is cute and underused compared to similar Nina. It also has a kind a sexy, romantic vibe for me because of the obvious Dracula links. I don’t think the “meaner” or “Meanie” thing would bother or worry me. For me the biggest bug bear might be people regularly mishearing it as “Nina?”

Agatha is a name I want to love because I adore Agatha Christie books but realistically it’s one of those retro hipster names (like Ethel) that imo you have to be pretty cool to pull off. For me, I think it might be easier to be a Mina than an Agatha.

JollyGreenSnake · 21/05/2025 21:23

Don't like Mina.

PraisebetoGod · 21/05/2025 21:24

I don't like either name but then why would you care?

Whiteflowerscreed · 21/05/2025 21:25

Don’t like either. Prefer Agnes

OSU · 21/05/2025 21:26

I knew a Meena and no one called her meanie. Go for Mina ❤️

DieDeutschLehrerin · 21/05/2025 21:27

I like both - I think there are always potential drawbacks to any name, you can't avoid them all. Menna is a name in our family. It's Welsh but also exists in Persian - might be an alternative to Mina if you wanted something similar but without the "E" sound.

Moreteaandchocolate · 21/05/2025 21:50

I think I’d prefer to be called Mina (even though it sounds the same as Meaner in my non-rhetoric accent). It’s short, has a nice sound and is unusual but not “out there”.
Agatha feels a bit more of a statement of a name somehow, and Aggie is a word we sometimes use for someone getting stroppy, so it doesn’t sound nice to me.

soundsys · 21/05/2025 21:51

Love, love, love Agatha! Nickname Taggie if you don’t like Aggie?

AllPlayedOut · 21/05/2025 21:55

Mina. Agatha is an incredibly ugly name.

Ddakji · 21/05/2025 21:59

Mina. Agatha is such an ugly name.

I love Agatha.

Mina is a bit twee.

MummytoE · 21/05/2025 23:39

Both awful, sorry

Talipesmum · 21/05/2025 23:45

Prefer mina. They’re both very Dracula for me - Mina Harker in the original Dracula story, and Sister Agatha in a more recent 2020 tv Dracula :-)

CherryVanillaPie · 21/05/2025 23:55

Mina

OurStepsWillAlwaysRhyme · 21/05/2025 23:58

Agatha has a very harsh sound. Mina is ok but more like a nickname than a real name.

bridgetreilly · 22/05/2025 00:26

Agatha!

kmurray1 · 22/05/2025 16:39

Mina

user2848502016 · 22/05/2025 18:03

I think Mina

Although as PP said prefer Agnes, Agatha gives me mean great aunt vibes!

marshmallowfinder · 22/05/2025 18:25

Agatha is dreadful. Mina (Meaner) sounds rather ugly to me I'm afraid.
