Which one would you choose out of these?

Kaya - pr. kah-ya
Phoebe
Alice
Kaylee - Kayleigh is a bit too long for my tastes

Thanks for your help and happy Easter!

100% Alice. The others aren’t even in the same league.

doreeen · 21/04/2025 01:40

Why is Kaylee being repeatedly called ‘awful’ though?

It’s not a name I’ve ever considered using as it’s just never stood out enough to go on my lists… but I don’t see anything particularly offensive or dreadful about it either? I’m surprised at such strong reactions to it! Does it have a horrible meaning or something?

I imagine because we just think it's awful. Also the song.

Alice is a classic name but a bit dull in my view. Phoebe seemed popular around the late 1990s (knew 3 from various baby groups). Kaya is a boy's Turkish name to me (not pronounced how you wrote it - means 'rock'). Kaylee seems dated and not as classic as Alice or Phoebe. Depends what you like though. Lots of other names out there.

What ‘vibe’ are they and why is it worse?

They are clearly a less traditional vibe.

I didn’t say they are “ worse”; I said I don’t like them.

That’s because I prefer traditional names, as well as names that have established spellings, the latter being a practical issue.

Some people like a different “vibe” and prefer something they think is less fashioned.

WaltzingWaters · 21/04/2025 07:20

I love Kaya. But I’d assume it was pronounced Kye-uh (as that’s how I’ve heard it pronounced before).

SillyOP · 21/04/2025 07:26

They all feel a bit 2000s but would be pretty unique in a class of today

Bigearringsbigsmile · 21/04/2025 07:27

Phoebe or Alice
Don't like the other two at all

Pemba · 21/04/2025 08:34
  1. Alice is lovely
  2. Phoebe is nice
  3. Don't mind Kaya but isn't it normally pronounced 'kye-a'? Like in the Bob Marley song.
  4. Kaylee - no I wouldn't, it has a nice sound but seems a bit dated and not very classy - sorry! Especially with that spelling.
Sunpeace · 21/04/2025 08:43

Alice. Not so keen on Phoebe. The other two are very different and I don't like either at all

user1492757084 · 21/04/2025 10:40

Inspired from your list, my favourites..

Alice 10/10
Kaye 9/10
Phoebe 9/10
Kaylee 7/10

Kaya 3/10 sounds like car yard - especially if her surname starts with D.

DramaAlpaca · 21/04/2025 10:42

Alice

Definitely not Kaylee, at least not with that spelling

JustAnInchident · 21/04/2025 10:47

Alice is lovely. It was on our shortlist. I don’t like Kaya or Phoebe but although it’s unpopular on here, I like Kaylie (spelled that way, not Kaylee) as two of my very favourite people are called Kaylie.

EmmaEmEmz · 21/04/2025 10:49

Phoebe

Emanwenym · 21/04/2025 12:03

Kaya - Kaia or Kaiya are better spellings
Phoebe- like
Alice - like best
Kaylee - awful

Sunflowerso · 21/04/2025 18:06

Phoebe.
Kaya open to mispronunciation I think Kaia a better spelling.

Darkambergingerlily · 21/04/2025 18:07

Kaylee is hideous!!!

like all the others especially Alice

ShoalShark · 21/04/2025 18:27

I like Phoebe and Alice. I actually like the sound of Kaya but wouldn’t choose a name that needs an explanation to pronounce, especially as I’ve realised that people are worse at pronunciation than I thought.

I thought I went for a traditional but underused biblical name - one everyone would have heard of but likely not known many people called it. I couldn’t even have imagined how many ways people would mispronounce it and a lot of people look at me like I’ve told them his name is “Bloopenbleepen” when I say it. I love his name but I really wish I’d called him something like James.

if you like Kaya then how about Maya?

Barrenfieldoffucks · 21/04/2025 18:28

They're very different. I'd only choose Phoebe or Alice. Alice is one of my all time favourites.

BadBerlin · 21/04/2025 18:34

Kaylee is very 80's

Kaya the way you described it is not good. Very harsh. I know a lovely Kiya (kiy- ah)?

So it's Alice for me. Lovely.

NotSafeInTaxis · 21/04/2025 18:39

Kaylee...is it too late to say I'm sorry....

chicke09 · 21/04/2025 18:40

Phoebe with Alice as a middle name

Happyinarcon · 21/04/2025 18:41

Phoebe is my favourite, then Alice. What about just Kay as something nice and simple?

Emanwenym · 21/04/2025 18:42

Do you remember?
I thought it was spaghetti in our hair

Sesma · 21/04/2025 18:43

Alice
