Jethro Tull wrote a book called 'Horse Hoeing Husbandry' and helped to start the agrarian revolution, he deffo invented a seed drill FDJ Q/ALIRJG

sorry I just fell asleep there, just as I doid when I studied this for O level history.

Up to that point I wanted to be a history teacher........

BigBadMouse · 14/05/2008 16:16

laidbackinengland I would love to know your favourite boys names then. Sounds like we have similar taste in names and DH and I can't agree on one for DS1 who is due on Sunday.

Jethro is cool but I think it helps if you like somewhere rural like I do (there are a few Jethro's around here )

RainyWednesday · 14/05/2008 16:29

Sending a link to this thread to him ought to amuse you for a couple of minutes?

jingleyjen · 14/05/2008 16:30

not good IMO
sorry

3andnomore · 14/05/2008 16:36

Despite being a great NCIS fan and my love for the character that Mark Hammond ( I think) plays, which is called Jethro...the name always reminds me more of Beverly Hillbillie's Character, lol...so....not a name I am personally to keen on, sorry...

laidbackinengland · 14/05/2008 16:46

bigbadmouse.... I think you live near me...I am North Devon ? Country names for decent country folk !

AbbeyA · 14/05/2008 16:49

I think country bumpkin when I hear it-sorry!

BigBadMouse · 14/05/2008 16:50

laidbackinengland - yes I do...on the border . Absolutely right....proper country names for proper janners country folk

Heffa · 14/05/2008 16:55

Fab quote Seeker - I love that book and film!

It does make me think of Jethro Tull but I think it could be quite a cool name!

And I live near North Devon (well, north West Devon) too!

BigBadMouse · 14/05/2008 17:05

Really heffa? if you are NW Devon then you must be quite near me? Nice country mn name you have there too! Its quite a country-fest on this thread isn't it? See.... all you have to do is shout Jethro and we all turn up

laidbackinengland · 14/05/2008 17:05

Bigbadmouse - DS1 is starting school in Hartland in September and a very opinionated kind friend told me that 'people there eat their own young'

GryffinGirl · 14/05/2008 17:08

definitely think of that rascist west country comedian. I think of Jethro Tull too, but would agree with the "hippyish and travelly" pronouncement.

BigBadMouse · 14/05/2008 17:14

laidbackinengland - Really??? Hartland's nice IMO. Is your friend from Woolfardisworthy by any chance? Funnily enough I have been snubbed by a few people becasue I decided against sending my DD1 to her designated school in September and have sent her to a different village's school (makes I laugh it does!)

Furthest school I looked at towards your way was Morwenstow after that we need to go through immigration I believe....

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 14/05/2008 17:16

i'm not from devon

somerset me lol (though currently away at uni)

so this is a rural thread

laidbackinengland · 14/05/2008 17:22

Bigbadmouse - do you like the name Wilf ? It's one my possibles for a future boy ? (have 3 DS's so far)

Heffa · 14/05/2008 17:22

BigBadMouse - it was the name Jethro that made me open the thread! It clearly attracts rural types

Hartland's beautiful! I live just north of Dartmoor. It feels quite north to me because I grew up east of Exeter. I'm loving it up here so far though, and looking forward to visiting the north Devon beaches more in the summer (the not-so-touristy ones).

PeachyHas4BoysAndLovesIt · 14/05/2008 17:24

wilf is good

have a grandad wilf

BigBadMouse · 14/05/2008 17:26

heffa - are you near Okie then? Exeter is very southerly

Laidbackinengland - I think it's a very good name but I can't have it for various reasons. I want Isaac, I will have Isaac (somehow ). I just need to talk DH round to it since he told his dad and his dad said 'You can't call him that! (after saying it was a nice name 2 years ago ). In the meantime, I think I need to post a thread on here!

beaniesteve · 14/05/2008 17:29

How about Seth? or Caleb?

I really love the name Roscoe too.
